It was an honor to welcome Isabelle Martin , High Commissioner for Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives (High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and Maldives) , together with G. Saahithiyanan, Political Officer, to the EEGAI Innovation Hub.

We had a meaningful and forward-looking discussion on the key challenges faced by youth in the Trincomalee District, including the growing skills gap, youth unemployment, brain drain, unsafe migration, limited access to quality education, and the need for stronger pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

We shared EEGAI's Cycle of Empowerment, the model featured at the United Nations (United Nations Sri Lanka) Second World Summit for Social Development, and discussed opportunities for partnership across youth skills development, leadership initiatives, and scholarships for Sri Lankan youth.

Grateful for this exchange and hopeful for what we can build together. 🇨🇦🇱🇰

🚀 We're Hiring : Intern – Software Engineer

Join our engineering team and gain hands on experience in software development while working with modern technologies, AI assisted development tools, and experienced professionals.

🔹 Responsibilities

📍 Assist in developing and maintaining software applications
📍 Contribute to development tasks including bug fixes, feature implementations, and product improvements under the guidance of senior engineers
📍 Support testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of application components
📍 Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and Agile ceremonies
📍 Collaborate with team members to deliver high quality software solutions
📍 Utilize modern development tools and AI assisted engineering practices
📍 Stay updated with emerging AI tools and frameworks relevant to the product roadmap

🎯 Requirements

📍 Fully or partially completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
📍 Strong foundation in programming concepts, including Object Oriented Programming (OOP), Data Structures & Algorithms, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Database Fundamentals
📍 Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python, JavaScript, or C #
📍 Basic frontend development skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Angular or a similar TypeScript based framework
📍 Understanding of database concepts, SQL queries, and relational database management systems
📍 Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Git, or other version control systems
📍 Knowledge of modern software development practices, including REST APIs, Agile methodologies, CI/CD concepts, and AI assisted development tools
📍 Strong willingness to learn new technologies, solve problems, and collaborate effectively within a team environment

🌍 EEGAI at the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development – Day 3 Highlights

✨Day 3 in Doha was another inspiring chapter in EEGAI’s journey, marked by meaningful global engagement and powerful conversations. We were deeply honoured to meet Her Excellency Ms. Lolwah Al Khater, Qatar’s Minister of Education, and proudly introduce the vision of the EEGAI Innovation Hub. We also had the privilege of engaging with the Secretary-General of SAARC, as well as the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the United Nations in New York, H.E. Mr. Olivier Maes, and the Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations in New York, strengthening dialogue around inclusive development and youth-led innovation.

📌Throughout the day, our booth welcomed delegates from across the world, each visit bringing encouragement, new perspectives, and exciting possibilities for collaboration. The experience was truly energising—reminding us that when global leaders and diverse communities come together with shared purpose, we move closer to a future where opportunity, dignity, and empowerment are universal. 💙🇱🇰🌍

Over 100 children from Patalipuram Village went home with brighter smiles as they received school bags, toys, and snack packs from EEGAI. ✨

This meaningful act of kindness was made possible through the generous contribution of Mr. and Mrs. Rajen, who chose to celebrate their Son’s birthday by giving back to children in need.

100+ lunch packs were distributed to the residents of Echalampathu Village who were affected by the floods, following their urgent request.

At EEGAI, we believe that rebuilding begins with compassion. We encourage everyone to extend a helping hand to your neighbour. In times like these, even the smallest act of kindness can bring comfort to someone who is struggling.
