🌱🐔 Project Update | Supporting Livelihood Recovery in Vavuniya
We are pleased to share that 1,000 chicks were distributed to 100 beneficiary households on 13 March 2026 under the Integrated Backyard Poultry Programme, implemented by SAPSRI with support from the PALM Foundation – Vavuniya Regional Office, and funding from UNDP, Hirdaramani Group, and the Lacoste Foundation. The chicks were supplied by ECOGO (PVT) LTD.
🐣 Impact for Families
• Each household received 10 chicks to strengthen backyard poultry production.
• The initiative supports income generation, improved nutrition, and climate-resilient livelihoods for vulnerable rural families.
• Replacement chicks were also provided to families affected by Cyclone Dithwa, helping them rebuild their livelihoods.
🌿 Project Objectives
• Increase household income for 150 vulnerable families through integrated backyard poultry systems.
• Provide training on poultry management and financial literacy.
• Improve access to eco-friendly fruits and vegetables for 500 Hirdaramani factory staff.
👏 We sincerely thank UNDP, Hirdaramani Group, the Lacoste Foundation, and all community members for their commitment to creating sustainable and climate-resilient livelihoods.
