✨Project Update from Vilachchiya!

In September, the SAPSRI team visited Vilachchiya to kick off the first round of community engagement for our new climate-smart agriculture project.
Our staff met with local government officials to align on priorities and ensure strong coordination as the project moves forward. We also held four Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with around 50 women farmers, creating a space for open conversation about their needs, challenges, and ideas for improving livelihoods in the Dry Zone.
These discussions gave us valuable insights into the real socio-economic conditions of potential beneficiaries and will directly shape the project’s final design — from training topics to water management support to opportunities for women’s leadership in agriculture.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated so enthusiastically. This project is being built with the community, not just for it — and this first visit sets a strong foundation for the year ahead.

More updates coming soon!
