The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), in Collaboration with the Department of Commerce Sri Lanka , organized an awareness Session on Market Access Opportunities under the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) of Sri Lanka on 27th May 2026 at the Chamber Auditorium, bringing together business leaders, exporters, and government representatives to explore the full potential of Sri Lanka's Free Trade Agreements.

The session was conducted by two distinguished resource persons from the Department of Commerce: Mr. Geshan Dissanayake, Deputy Director, and Ms. Vireshika Bandara. They have highlighted Sri Lanka’s key trade agreements and market access opportunities, focusing on how FTAs and preferential trade schemes such as the Indo-Sri Lanka FTA, Pakistan-Sri Lanka FTA, APTA, SAFTA, EU GSP+ and UK DCTS help boost exports, attract international trade opportunities, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position in global markets. The session also discussed export diversification, rules of origin, value addition requirements, certificates of origin, and the importance of compliance with international trade standards to maximize the benefits available for Sri Lankan exporters and businesses.

A lively Q&A session rounded off the programme, allowing participants to seek direct guidance from our expert speakers on their specific trade queries.

The NCCSL extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Geshan Dissanayake and Ms. Vireshika Bandara for their insightful and practical presentations, to the Department of Commerce Sri Lanka for their continued partnership and invaluable support, and to all participants for their active engagement and commitment to growth.
