The Rotaract Club of Kandy, one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in the RI District 3220. A brainchild of Charter Member Kiridaran Kanagarathnam started on 27th September 1985 as Rotaract Club of Kandy which is a dynamic club in the RID 3220 from the beginning and the club was chartered on the 16th April 1986 by Past President Ameerali Ibrahim. From the day one club has been a very active
club and has continued the journey of 33 under 36 leaders who led the club without a break in a remarkable way, club achievements year after year are the proof for the excellence of the Proud Team Kandy. Club has won the RI District Citation for 13 consecutive years, beginning from the year 2005-06, and has been recognized as one of the most outstanding Clubs in District 3220. In the year 2017-18, the club was recognized as the best Rotaract Club in the District by the Rotary District Governor. The Club also won a Total of 12 Awards plus our very own Past President Tilani Subasinghe received the Lifetime Achievement Award as she contributed towards the betterment of the movement for more than 8 years from the day she joined. At the present, the club is looking forward towards the Rotary International Year 2018-19 under the leadership of Rtr. Mohomed Rehan with the futuristic vision of taking Rotaract into a higher level, with the theme “Pursue Happiness”, the entire team believed in this motto as we set forward to reach our goals with a feeling of responsibility and commitment.. The club currently has a membership of 48 members including a total of 8 Prospective Members. The club thrives on the true sense of fellowship which is a vital part in the club’s success along the years. The club organizes projects covering the avenues of Community Service, Club Services, International Understanding, Professional Development & Human Resource Development in order to enjoy the young age of the Rotaractors in a productive manner, serve the community while building great leaders for the future. The Members of the club maintains a close relationship the Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Kandy, Rotarians from RID 3220 and also with Interactors and show a keen interest in participating in Inter Rotaract-Rotary Projects .
