On 08 January 2026, a Child-Friendly Space was successfully established in the selected village of Puthiya Eluvankulam, under the Vanathavillu Divisional Secretariat.

As part of the event, play materials for children were provided by the RDF organization, with generous support from UNICEF.

The program saw the enthusiastic participation of over 100 children and more than 50 parents. Government officials, including the Early Childhood Development Officer (ECDO), Development Officer (DO), and Grama Sevaka (GS), were present, along with staff members from the RDF organization.

This initiative aims to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment that supports children’s learning, well-being, and development.

School learning materials were distributed today (22.12.2025) to 70 students of Man/Devanpitti Primary Vidyalaya who were affected by the Dithva flood.

The programme was organized by the Rural Development Foundation and was attended by Mr. A. R. A. Ramees, Secretary of the Foundation, Mrs. S. Thileepan, Principal of the school, along with teachers and officials of the Rural Development Foundation.

This initiative aimed to support the education of children and help them continue their learning journey despite the impact of the disaster.

With the support of UNOPS, flood relief dry ration packs were distributed to 200 families from Kalliyadi and Udayapuram villages in the Mannar District through the Rural Development Foundation (RDF) on 12 December 2025.

Representatives from UNOPS, the RDF Secretary, the Grama Niladhari, the Economic Development Officer, and the Samurdhi Development Officer participated in the event.

The UN Resident Coordinator Sri Lanka, UNICEF Representative Sri Lanka, and UN OCHA officials visited Puttalam and met with the Puttalam Government Agent and relevant Heads of Departments. The meeting was organized by RDF, with the coordination of the NGO Coordinator – Puttalam. The RDF Secretary also participated.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the flood-affected village of Neelabamma in the Karuvalagaswewa Divisional Secretariat Division, together with the Divisional Secretary and RDF Secretary. They explained the urgent needs and problems faced by the affected community.

We have successfully distributed 200 dry-ration packages to the families most affected in Alankuda, Kalpitiya DS Division and Rathmalyaya, Puttalam DS Division on 04.05.2025.

Each dry-ration pack contained essential food items to support families with their immediate needs.

A heartfelt thank you to OSF for making this assistance possible.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to our NGO Coordinator Mr. Danushka and the relevant GN Officers for their guidance and support throughout the distribution process. ❤🙏

இந்த நிகழ்வில் தலைமன்னார் பியர் மற்றும் வட்டக்கண்டல் கிராம சேவகர் பிரிவுகளில் இருந்து தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்ட
பல்லின இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் யுவதிகள் — மொத்தம் 35 பேர் — பங்கேற்றனர்.

செயலமர்வில் பங்கேற்றவர்கள் தமது சமய அடையாளங்கள், நம்பிக்கைகள் மற்றும் உரிமைகளை மதிப்பதின் முக்கியத்துவம்,
அவை அவமதிக்கப்படும்போது ஏற்படும் விளைவுகள், மேலும் மத சுதந்திரம் தொடர்பான
இலங்கை அரசியலமைப்பின் உரிமைகள் மற்றும் சட்டங்கள் பற்றிய விளக்கங்களையும் பெற்றனர்.

இவ்வாறு பன்மத, பல்லின ஒற்றுமையை ஊக்குவிக்கும் நோக்கில் இந்த நிகழ்வு வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவடைந்தது. 🌿

🕊️ Workshop on Religion, Faith and Freedom of Religion 🕊️

Under the sponsorship of the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL),
the Rural Development Foundation (RDF) – Mannar Branch organized a one-day workshop on the theme “Religion, Faith, and Freedom of Religion.”

The session was held under the chairmanship of Mr. A.R.A. Ramees, Secretary of RDF.
Peer Educators, Ms. Mathangi Uthayabalan and Mr. Abkar Hassan, contributed as facilitators, sharing their experiences and insights with the participants.

A total of 35 youth participants from Thalaimannar Pier and Vattakandal GN Divisions, representing diverse communities, took part in this workshop.

Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on respecting one another’s religious identities, beliefs, and rights, the impact of disrespecting faith, and the importance of religious freedom as enshrined in the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

The program successfully promoted interfaith harmony, mutual respect, and understanding among the youth of Mannar. 🌿
