Beach Clean-Up Success – Arugambay

Today, we successfully carried out a beach clean-up in Arugambay in collaboration with the Arugambay Auto Owners Welfare Foundation, CCD Pottuvil and Police Pottuvil

Together, we collected around 500 kg of plastic and recyclable waste from our beautiful coastline.

This effort is a reminder that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Every small action counts towards keeping our beaches clean, safe, and beautiful for future generations.

A big thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who made this initiative a success!

Let’s continue to work together to keep Arugambay clean and plastic-free.

🐘🌍 Protecting Wildlife & Environment

In Arugambay, we witnessed a heartbreaking reality – elephants and other animals eating plastic waste at the dumping yard. This not only harms our wildlife but also damages our ecosystem.

Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha organized cleanup , we have removed large amounts of recyclable plastic. 🙌 But this is only the beginning.

Now, we must work together to find sustainable solutions to stop plastic pollution and build green cities for a cleaner and safer future. 🌱💚

🌿 Cleanup & Awareness Drive – Nawalaru River Area 🌿

Today, we successfully carried out a Plastic Pollution Awareness and Cleanup Program in the Nawalaru area in collaboration with the dedicated students of Al Kalam School, Pottuvil.

Together, we removed over 180kg of plastic waste from the riverside — a strong step toward protecting our environment and raising awareness in our community. ♻️

A big thank you to the amazing students, teachers, and volunteers who made this effort possible! Let’s continue to protect our rivers, oceans, and wildlife for future generations. 💚

🌊 Coastal Cleanup Success! 🌿

Today, we joined hands with Coastal Conservation and Coastal Resources Management, DS Office Pottuvil, MOH Pottuvil, MEPA, NPP Pottuvil, STF Arugambay, and the Navy Panama, in collaboration with Sustainable Clean Lanka, for a powerful coastal cleanup initiative! 💪🏽🏖️

Together, we worked to restore the natural beauty of our shores, protect marine life, and raise awareness about the importance of keeping our coastline plastic-free and healthy for future generations. 🌱🐢🌍

Towards a Plastic-Free Future in Schools!

We are proud to take another step in our Plastic-Free TOT Program, expanding to the Akkaraipattu Education Zone! 100 school principals participated in a special training session at Blue Wave Hotel, Arugambay, where they learned about plastic pollution and its harmful effects on students and the environment.

We invited them to lead the change by promoting a plastic-free lifestyle in their schools, impacting over 30,000 students with this vital knowledge. Dr. F.M. Uwais, MOH Pottuvil, also delivered an insightful speech on how plastic pollution affects human health.

A special thank you to ZED A.M. Rahmathulla sir , All the principals and academic staff for valuable participation and support. Together, we are creating a cleaner and healthier future!

“Beautiful Beach – Attractive Tourist Destination”

The National Beach Beautification Program was launched today in the Eastern Province to enhance the natural beauty of coastal areas.

As part of this initiative, the main event in the Ampara District took place at the popular tourist destination, Arugam Bay Beach.

Organized by the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat, the event was held under the leadership of Ampara District Government Agent, Mr. Chinthaka Abeywickrama.

The State Minister for Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment, Mr. Vasantha Piyathissa, participated as the chief guest.

Several key officials and representatives attended the event, including:
• Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Mr. Ravi Seneviratne
• Chairman of the Tourism and Industry Chamber, Mr. A.M. Jaubar
• Pottuvil Divisional Organizer of the National People’s Power, Mr. Adam Saleem
• Officials from the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat and Pradeshiya Sabha
• Dr Uwais Farook MOH Pottuvil
• Tri-forces personnel
• Arugam Bay Clean Lanka Organization and its Chairman, H.M. Imam
• Arugam Bay Auto Owners Association and its Chairman, A. Musammil
• Local community organizations and volunteers

During the event, a beach cleanup covering approximately 18 kilometers of the Arugam Bay coastal area was carried out.

The program started at 7:30 AM and continued until 11:00 AM, successfully contributing to a cleaner and more attractive beach environment.

🌍 Environmental Awareness Program – 7th School Session! 🌱

Today, we successfully conducted our 7th school program at Al Hijra Vithyalam, Pottuvil! 🎉 We engaged students in learning about environmental protection, plastic pollution, and ways to save our planet. 🌿♻️

It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm of both students and teachers in understanding the impact of plastic waste and how small actions can make a big difference. The school principal and teachers also joined us, showing their support for a cleaner, greener future. 🌎✨

Together, we are building a plastic-free and more sustainable community! 💚

🌿 Beach & Park Cleanup at Hidayapura! 🌊🌍

Today, our dedicated volunteers, along with Jetwing Hotel, joined forces for a major cleanup at Hidayapura Beach and Children’s Park. Together, we removed over 30 bags of plastic waste from the shoreline, preventing it from polluting our ocean.

In addition, we cleared plastic waste from the park’s drainage system, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for the children and the community.

A huge thank you to our volunteers and partners for their commitment to keeping our coastal areas plastic-free! Every small action counts in protecting our environment. 💚
