🌒 LAUNCHING: ALL TERMINATOR MOON

We are excited to introduce "All Terminator Moon", an ongoing computational imaging project by SEDS Pera that explores a fascinating question:

Can multiple Earth-based observations of the Moon be fused into a single, increasingly detailed representation of its surface?

By studying the moving lunar terminator—the boundary between lunar day and night—we aim to extract complementary surface information from different lighting conditions and progressively reconstruct richer lunar detail only using the Earth-based imagery.

Rather than relying on a single photograph, the project investigates how the Moon's moving terminator reveals different topographic features under changing illumination. By combining observations captured at different times, we aim to extract complementary surface information and progressively reconstruct a richer lunar surface model using Earth-based imagery alone.

This initiative brings together astronomy, computer vision, image processing, and computational research, creating an opportunity for students to contribute to an exciting premodial open research effort.

This is only the beginning. Stay with us as we share development updates, technical insights, and the journey of building Terminator Moon.
