Every person in this video started in a different place - a kitchen, a research field, a running track, a classroom after hours because the regular ones weren't affordable.

What they have in common is the ability to dream and someone who invested in them before they'd proven anything.

For years, Dilmah - through the MJF Charitable Foundation and Dilmah Conservation - has backed diverse young people across Sri Lanka through scholarships, skills training, therapy, education, hands-on opportunities and experiences that many others may never get access to.

This International Youth Day, we're not summarizing what that support looks like. We're letting some of the young people who lived it tell you themselves.

At our Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Disorders (CCCPDD), we host paediatric physiotherapy clinical placements for undergraduate students from the University of Colombo and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

Recently, during our Early Intervention Clinic, students took part in a hands-on workshop: designing and fabricating customised anterior knee support splints from affordable, sustainable materials. These splints help prevent knee hyperextension during standing and walking exercises -a small piece of equipment that makes a real difference to a child's functional progress. Our clinical team shared the knowledge. The students turned it into something a child could actually wear, the same week they learned it.

It's training in both directions - students build real clinical skill, and that skill becomes splints, sessions, and support for the children in our care.

Last month, our team from the MJF Centre for Dignified Empowerment in Moratuwa took part in an exhibition organised by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo - showcasing government and non-government disability and rehabilitation services from across Sri Lanka.

The exhibition was built for medical and healthcare professionals. Our team was there to make sure they know what's actually available - not in theory, but in practice, through the therapy, training, and support we provide every day at our Moratuwa centre.

Awareness like this matters long before anyone walks through our doors. The more of Sri Lanka's healthcare professionals who know what exists, the sooner someone can be connected to the right support.

Our last book reading was a hit! 30 kids joined us for an interactive reading of 'Those Pesky Rabbits' by Ciara Flood, narrated by Shenya Mendis. Check out some of the special moments we captured. Over two days in July, our team from the MJF Jaffna Rainbow Centre ran a workshop titled "Empowering the Skills of Special Needs Teachers" - held at the request of the Divisional Secretariat, Jaffna, and approved by the Department of Education.

Nearly 20 teachers and counsellors took part, working through:

Types of developmental disorders
Teaching strategies
Classroom management to support each child's development
IEP, lesson planning, and report writing

Rather than lectures alone, the two days were built around role play, group activities, case studies, and hands-on practice - the kind of training that stays with you because you've actually done it, not just heard it.

Two days, 20 educators, and a classroom's worth of children in Jaffna who will feel the difference for years to come.

A colourful and delicious sensorial learning experience! At the MJF East Pre School, 19 little ones enjoyed learning about fruits, with exciting fruit-based tactile activities that helped them to identify different fruits; exploring their colors, tastes, and textures, whilst learning about their special qualities.

The enthusiasm was palpable, and we loved watching their smiles and excitement grow as they worked together to prepare a healthy fresh fruit salad- a special treat they shared with their friends.

Beautiful moments of learning, joy, teamwork, and healthy habits!

Speaking up for disability support! On the 14th of July, two of our team members from the Moratuwa Center, Subhani and Lankani, represented the MJF Charitable Foundation on 'Nugasevana' - the popular national morning show aired by Rupavahini. They advocated with confidence and passion about our work, our values, and our commitment to empowering communities, especially how they use their own lived experiences of disability to break barriers and uplift others. 112 pints of life-giving kindness by one legacy, lived forward. 🩸

On July 11th, the MJF Kids' Alumni Association organised the 7th consecutive year Annual Blood Donation Drive at the MJFCF Hostel located at the Dilmah Head Office in Peliyagoda - held in loving memory of our late Founder Chairman, to commemorate his death anniversary.

He believed, above all, in kindness - in giving to those who need it most. Every pint donated was a continuation of that belief, carried forward by the very people whose lives his generosity once touched.

124 donors registered, and 112 pints donated to the National Blood Bank. The highest contribution among all 5 blood donation camps held by the Blood Bank across Colombo and Gampaha that day.
