Highlights from the 1st Ornamental Fish Farming Training Workshop! 🐠🫧🩵
Our 3-day Ornamental Fish Farming Training Program was successfully completed, bringing together enthusiastic participants eager to learn the knowledge and practical skills needed to begin an ornamental fish farming venture.
Participants learned directly from experienced professionals and experts in the aquatic sector, including Mr. Thushan Kapurusinghe, Chairman of TCP Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., Mr. Krishantha Alexander, President of the Association of Live Tropical Fish Exporters of Sri Lanka; Mr. Udayakantha Wickramasinghe, aquatic field consultant; scientists from the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA); and former NARA scientist and TCP Research Coordinator, Dr. Vasantha Pahalawattaarachchi.
From understanding the global and local ornamental fish trade and its economic potential to gaining practical knowledge in fish breeding, genetics and new varieties, aquarium management, fish health, nutrition, feed preparation, and water quality, participants explored many important aspects of the industry. The program also included hands-on demonstrations on aquarium setup, essential equipment, and ornamental fish culture techniques.
