Over the past few months, people across the United States and around the world have been speaking about a remarkable Peace Walk that has deeply inspired many.
After walking for 108 days and covering more than 2,300 miles, this extraordinary journey concluded today at the Washington National Cathedral. It was a powerful act of dedication, discipline, and spiritual commitment.
Throughout the journey, the Venerable monks were joined not only by supporters from many communities, but also by a small puppy named Aaloka, who walked alongside them and won the love and admiration of people everywhere. Together, they captured the attention of the world and reminded us of the simple strength found in compassion and unity.
At the closing ceremony, the Chief Monk shared a meaningful and practical message about the importance of “letting go.” He gave a simple example:
“When you brush your teeth and notice water stains or splashes on the mirror, clean them immediately. Do not postpone it for tomorrow and allow dirt to build up. In the same way, do not hold on to negative experiences in your life. Let them go. Do not keep anger or resentment in your heart. Release them.”
It was a powerful reminder that peace begins within each of us. If we learn to let go of anger, hatred, and negativity, we create space for understanding, kindness, and harmony.
Peace is not just a global ideal-it is a daily personal practice. Let us all strive to live peacefully with one another and contribute to a more compassionate world.
May the strength of this courageous journey bring healing to the world.
May peace prevail !
May all beings be well and safe !
