The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society - Nuwara Eliya Branch recently conducted a vital food pack distribution in Walapane. This initiative aimed to support families in need within the Walapane Grama Niladhari (GN) division by providing essential food items and promoting community well-being.

We were honored to have the participation of the BEO (Branch Executive Officer), community members, and our dedicated Red Cross volunteers. We remain committed to serving our communities and ensuring care, support, and dignity for all.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) Nuwara Eliya Branch continues its mission to support our communities. We recently and successfully completed a food pack distribution program in Lindula, aimed at providing essential nutrition to families in need.

The event was graced by the Secretary of the Nuwara Eliya Red Cross Branch and the Branch Executive Officer (BEO) of the SLRCS Nuwara Eliya Branch, reflecting our commitment to transparency and direct humanitarian service.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Lindula Grama Niladhari for their vital assistance in coordinating this effort and helping us reach the most vulnerable members of the community. 🤝

The much-awaited moment has finally arrived! This year marks a remarkable milestone as our Branch Youth successfully conducted the Annual General Meeting and elected a new team of dedicated leaders.

This is more than just an election — it’s the beginning of a new chapter filled with youth leadership, teamwork, and a stronger commitment to serving our community. With fresh ideas, renewed energy, and passionate individuals stepping forward, we are ready to take our youth movement to greater heights.

We sincerely thank all those who were present for their support, encouragement, and valuable contributions, which made this event truly meaningful and inspiring for everyone involved.

Sinhala & Tamil New Year Celebration 2026 🤝❤️

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Nuwara Eliya Branch organized a Sinhala & Tamil New Year Celebration under the UNFPA–WGSS Project for the Safety Center located at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium, Nuwara Eliya, on 23rd April 2026.

This event was conducted with the participation of Women’s Development Officer Ms. M.S.K. Ayesha Bandara, Child Rights & Protection Officer Mr. Upur, and Grama Niladhari Mr. Chandika Waidyasiri. The event was further honored by the presence of National Coordinator Mr. Vajira Mahesh, Hon. Branch Secretary Mr. Nalin Prabath, Hon. Branch Committee Member Mr. K. Ravindran, along with SLRCS staff and dedicated volunteers.

The celebration aimed to promote unity, cultural harmony, and psychosocial well-being among the affected communities, reflecting the spirit of humanitarian service.

Cyclone Ditwah Response – School Pack Distribution Program - China Merchant Fountain Project

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Nuwara Eliya Branch conducted a School Pack Distribution Program at Denike Secondary School, Hanguranketha funded by the China Merchant Foundation, to support students affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

The program was attended by the Divisional Security Officer, school principal, school staff, SLRCS members, staff, and volunteers, ensuring smooth and meaningful distribution of school packs to students in need.

A medical camp was successfully conducted at District General Hospital Nuwara Eliya in support of communities affected by the recent floods and landslides.
