Six Years of Partnership. Six Years of Commitment. One Shared Mission!

Clean Ocean Force has officially signed its MOU with the Ministry Of Local Government - Western Province, for the 6th consecutive year, reaffirming our commitment to adopting and protecting selected beaches and waterways across the province.

The MOU was formally signed by Jerome Fernando, Chairman & Co-Founder of Clean Ocean Force, and A. D. S. Sadeeka, Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Western Province.

Under the theme "සුන්දර කළ වෙරළ හෙටත් රැකගන්න" – Let's Protect the Beautiful Beach for Tomorrow, our journey has grown from removing tons of marine debris along our coastlines to protecting seabeds, lagoons, lakes, and waterways.

This milestone is a powerful testament to what can be achieved when the private sector, government institutions, and communities work together under the leadership of organisations genuinely committed to environmental conservation such as Clean Ocean Force.

For six consecutive years, COF has successfully championed the Public–Private–People Partnership (PPPP) model, demonstrating that collective responsibility, sustained collaboration, and committed leadership can translate into meaningful environmental and social impact.

This is more than an MOU signing. It is the continuation of a shared national mission to protect our marine and coastal ecosystems for generations to come.
Together, we are turning partnerships into action and commitment into lasting change. 🇱🇰

International Coastal Cleanup Day

Today, we reflect on a journey built on Action, Awareness and Advocacy bringing people together to protect our coast and ocean.

Through the Public Private People Partnership (PPPP) approach, communities, volunteers, government institutions, private sector partners and organisations continue to work together towards meaningful and sustainable change.

Coastal cleanup is not only about removing waste. It is about preventing pollution, changing behaviours and creating a sustainable future for our ocean.

A heartfelt thank you to all our partners, volunteers, communities and supporters who have stood with Clean Ocean Force throughout this journey.

🌊 COASTAL CLEANUP DAY | 7-DAY ARTICLE SERIES
ARTICLE 07– THE HIDDEN LIFE BENEATH A BEACH 🐚

When we look at a beach, we often see only sand, waves, and shells.
But beneath that quiet surface lies a hidden world keeping our ocean alive.
Deep in the sand, tiny worms, molluscs, and crustaceans are constantly at work.
They clean the beach by breaking down organic waste, while becoming food for birds and fish.

It’s an entire ecosystem working silently for us:
* Dunes block heavy waves and shield us from storms.
* Wetlands trap pollution before it reaches open water.
* Mangroves shelter young marine life so it can grow.

But every time we litter, trample coastal land, or mine sand, this natural defense breaks down.

💭 So let’s ask ourselves:
Are we only looking for a beach that looks clean?

Or do we care if the ecosystem beneath it is actually alive?

Because a beautiful shore is useless if the life beneath it is dying.

🛑 This Coastal Cleanup Day, look beyond the surface.

Protect the habitat. Protect the life. Protect the coast. 💙

Clean Ocean Force : Beyond Marine Conservation, Working for Humanity

At Clean Ocean Force (COF), our mission goes beyond protecting marine ecosystems. We believe that true sustainability is about protecting our planet, empowering communities, and working towards the well-being of humanity.

Today, Clean Ocean Force Youth, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Police Environmental Division, distributed breakfast packs across three locations: Maw Sewana in Mattakkuliya, CFS Preethipura Home, and the Colombo Logistics Yard in Wattala.

With the mentorship and guidance of COF's founders, our young volunteers continue to champion environmental conservation, community empowerment, and social welfare, embracing the spirit of compassion and service to humanity.

Through initiatives such as this, we aim to nurture a generation of young changemakers who understand that sustainability is not only about protecting nature, but also about caring for people, sharing what we have, and ensuring that humanity remains at the heart of everything we do.
