Lions Club of Negombo Orient handed over new and almost new items in support of the recovery initiative of flood victims, at St. Philip Neri’s Church, Thoppuwa, Kochchikade.

* Kitchen utensils

Rev. Fr. Andrew Franklin thanked the Lions for this generosity.

Total value of this donation is around Rs 300,000.

*Service Activity – At The Pediatric Endocrinology Unit of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children on 20th December 2025*

A meaningful day of service was done to mark the visit of *First International Vice President, Mark Lyon* together with his gracious lady *Lion Lynn*, to the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit at *Lady Ridgeway Hospital*, Borella, Colombo, which was Renovated and Refurbished with Funding from LCIF and Donors under the Leadership of *PDG Placidus M Peter PMJF PMAF*.

1st IVP WAS accompanied by Past International Director & LCIF Trustee *Mahesh Pasqual PMJF PMAF* and Multiple Council Chairperson Lion *Shyana Jayalath PMJF PMAF.*

The delegation was received by the Director, Deputy Director, and Senior Consultant of the Endocrinology unit of the hospital, who highlighted the value of the work done by Lions and the unit’s vital role in care for children with hormonal diseases from across the island.

On this occasion, 25 Accu-Chek glucometers and 25 foot massage pads were donated to further strengthen patient care.

All patients, parents and the hospital staff were also provided with nutritional Breakfast packs.

We sincerely thank *PDG Placidus M. Peter* and *all stakeholders* for making this impactful project a reality. The value of the days project was Rs. 375,000.00

*Heartfelt Appreciation*

4th December 2025, new Cloths & Essential Dry Rations to the value of Rs. 90,000/- were provided to three affected families with small children in *Kochchikade* area.

This was made possible through the generous contribution of Rs. 50,000/- from former Negombo Orient member *Titus Peter*, though overseas, continues to uphold the true spirit of “*WE SERVE*”, with the balance kindly supported by PDG Lion Placidus.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you both for setting an inspiring example of compassion, in this time of need.

Lions Clubs International, *First Vice International President Lion Mark Lyon, together with his spouse Lion Lyn, visited the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit of Lady Ridgeway Hospital*

We received a distress request for support for nearly 800 displaced persons sheltered at St. Sebastian Church, Dankotuwa.

As boats were not able to reach them due to strong water flow, they had not received any meals for an entire day. Yesterday, 30th November, boats finally managed to reach them.

Today, 1st December, we were able to extend immediate relief by providing the following items:

• Rice – 75 kg
• Soya meat – 100 packets
• Dhal – 15 kg
• Canned fish – 34 tins
• Onions – 24 kg
• Biscuits – 12 boxes
• Tea leaves – 6 kg
• Sugar – 10 kg
• Eggs – 260 Nos
• Soap and sanitary pads
• Milk powder – 10 kg
• Salt – 10 packets

A heartfelt thank you to Lion Saman, Lion Shanaki, PDG Placidus M. Peter, and Lion Savithri for their generous donations and support.

The total value of the donation was Rs. 115,000.00.

Special appreciation to Lion Shanaki and PDG Placidus for being physically present during the distribution.

Today, the Lions Club of Negombo Orient distributed 500 lunch packets to affected residents in Kochchikade, Udayar Thoppuwa, and Angurukaramulla GS Divisions through the Negombo District Secretary’s Office.

Kochchikade is among the worst-affected areas, accessible only by boats. With the support and coordination of the Police, the meal packets were safely transported to the communities in need.

Our heartfelt thanks go to PMCC Deva D. Peter for arranging the meals to be cooked and packed at cost, and to Lion Muruga for generously sponsoring all 500 packs.

Special appreciation to PDG Placidus M. Peter, GST Chithrani, Treasurer Palitha, Lion Savithri, Lion Sudantha and Lion Muruga for their active involvement in the distribution process. And thanks to members of Leo Club of BCI for their participation.
