Welcome Home, Governor: Lion P. K. Gayan Lakmal Takes the Helm of Lions International District 306 D5
Lions International District 306 D5 is proud to welcome its newly installed District Governor for the Lionistic Year 2026–2027, Lion P. K. Gayan Lakmal, PMJF, PMAF, JP, alongside his gracious lady, Lion Chamilka Madushani. Following his Installation and Oath of Office at the International Convention, LionCon 2026, District Governor Lakmal has returned to Sri Lanka to formally begin his term, with a District Governor's Arrival & Welcome event held on 9th July 2026 at Hotel Ramrich, Ja-Ela — bringing together Lions clubs from across the district for an evening of fellowship, service carnival activities, and celebration.
A Vision Rooted in Growth and Service:
The District's guiding theme for the year — "Growing Membership, Excellence in Service" — is symbolised in the district logo by three lions in motion, each representing a core pillar of the vision ahead:
Membership — recognised as the fundamental driver of the organisation's strength and long-term impact.
Service — the true expression of the Lions' mission, expanding in capacity as membership grows, in line with the enduring motto, "We Serve."
Leadership — the core strength that nurtures skills and opportunities for every member to grow.
This is anchored by a clear and ambitious mission statement for the year:
"To build a compassionate, sustainable, and service-oriented Lions District 306 D5, that transforms communities through visionary humanitarian leadership, measurable service impact, membership growth, and strategic community partnerships."
Pledges Already in Motion
True to this vision, the District Governor's Welcome Service Project has already outlined a robust set of pledges to serve the community, including the distribution of wheelchairs, hospital beds and mattresses, school children's spectacles, reading glasses, walkers, and mobility aids — with several targets already completed and more underway. It is a strong early signal of the tangible, service-first leadership that will define the year ahead.
Wishing Him a Successful Lionistic Year
As Lion P. K. Gayan Lakmal and Lion Chamilka Madushani begin this significant new chapter, the Lions of District 306 D5 extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a term marked by growth, compassion, and impact. May this Lionistic Year strengthen every club, uplift every community served, and carry forward the proud legacy of "We Serve."
Welcome home, Governor — and welcome to a year of service ahead.
