Agro/Aqua Ecology training program conducted by NAFSO Sri Lanka at Polonnaruwa which was facilitated by Miridiya Organization - Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka on 11th April, 2026. This is one of the pilot program of NAFSO Sri Lanka which is conducting in 3 places of Polonnaruwa(Fresh water), Negombo (Brackish Water) and Galle (Coastal fisheries) which is being supported by WhyHunger Program.
Manoj Silva, Ms. Suba Shini, Ms. Madara Wijethunge, Ms. Shanila Fernando and Herman Kumara Wijethunge facilitated the program and discussed subect areas of agro/aqua ecology, gender justice, human rights and fisheries, Ancient Cascade system, Slash and Burn Cultivation(Chena), and destruction of Water Catchment areas, role of farmers and fishers to ensure sustain agro/aqua peasant economies.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year Celebrations were organized at NAFSO Sri Lanka on the 10th April, with the cordial collaboration of Seniors and New Comers of the organization. There were 25 folk games were organized and valuable prizes were awarded among the winners of the games. The youth and the elderly people all were enthusiastically engaged the games and were highly competetive. The games of the Sinhala and Tamil villages usually organize were made a close interaction and building unity amobg staff members. One of the most serious and deadly moment was the "Eating Ramen" competetion as some of the contestants were seriously disturbed and in one point due to difficult to breathe.
This celebration was very important moments of NAFSO Sri Lanka history as this is the first time we organized such event commemorating Sinhala and Tamil new year. Herman Kumara Wijethunge

The Canadian 3 Interns possess full of talents, of technology, dancing, drawing, writing, researching and more.
Taina, a Masters Student of Ottawa University, an intern of Alternatives conducted an orientation program of "Photoshop" for NAFSO Sri Lanka Staff members today.
This was attended 15 NAFSO staff and began their initial Photoshop preparations from today. We expect our program officers will enhance their reporting abilities through the learning and practice.

District
