☀️🌿𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨: 𝘼 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣🌿☀️

On 13th November 2025, Don Bosco Development Center signed an agreement with Hayleys Fentons Limited for a 120kW PV solar power system at 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗸𝗮, 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝘂𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗮–𝗔𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮, under the project titled “𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙨: 𝘼 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.” With this new installation, the Don Bosco institutions now collectively operate 989kW of solar power capacity, reflecting our continued commitment to sustainable energy and long-term income generation.
This project also highlights the ongoing and continuous support of Don Bosco Mondo Germany, towards strengthening the financial sustainability initiatives of the Salesian Mission in Sri Lanka.

The agreement was signed by Rev. Fr. Roshan Miranda SDB (Provincial Superior) and Rev. Fr. Viraj Chamara SDB (Executive Director, DBDC) on behalf of the Don Bosco Trust, while Mr. Roshane Perera (Executive Director), Mr. Pamudith Gunawardana (Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer), and Mr. Sampath Pinto (Manager – Experience Centre, Hayleys Solar) represented Hayleys Fentons Limited. This renewed commitment further reinforces our shared dedication to sustainable progress.

🏅 Don Bosco Inter Sports Meet 2025 🏅

The first-ever Don Bosco Inter Sports Meet was successfully held on 7th October 2025 at the Don Bosco Provincial House Grounds, Dungalpitiya, with the enthusiastic participation of over 500 schoolchildren from five neighboring schools. The event was a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and youthful energy, reflecting the Don Bosco spirit of holistic education. 🌟

🏫 Thalahena Maha Vidyalaya
🏫 St. Peter’s Vidyalaya – Basiyawatta
🏫 Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya

The ceremony commenced at 1:00 p.m. with a colorful march past, followed by thrilling track events, cultural dance performances, karate demonstrations, and gymnastics displays organized by each participating school.

📘 Don Bosco Student Parliament

The 2nd Session of the Don Bosco Parliament was held on 30th September 2025 with the active participation of student leaders, educators, and government officials. The session provided an excellent platform for reviewing progress, sharing insights, and planning future initiatives.

During the proceedings, each ministry presented a comprehensive review of its activities and achievements since the previous meeting, along with ten key suggestions aimed at strengthening implementation strategies in the coming months. Government representatives commended the students’ dedication and provided constructive feedback and practical recommendations to further enhance their initiatives.

The session fostered a spirit of leadership, accountability, and collaboration, encouraging students to engage in open discussion, collective decision-making, and strategic planning to promote meaningful community development.

🍃 Awareness Programme on Ornamental Plant Cultivation

On July 11th, an awareness programme on ornamental plant cultivation was successfully conducted at Don Bosco Provincial House under the Livelihood Development (Women Empowerment) initiative. The comprehensive five-hour programme was attended by twenty women beneficiaries from the empowerment initiative. The project will last for one year where the women will be guided accompanied by experts to make sure the business is sustainable and profitable.
The programme was expertly conducted by Mr. Prasanna Fernando, Trainer and CEO of ECO Farming Pvt. Ltd., along with Mr. Subash Ranjan, Ornamental Plants Production Officer of Tropical Agro Pvt. Ltd.
The training session covered essential topics including an introduction to ornamental plant business and market opportunities, profit maximization strategies, fundamentals of ornamental planting techniques, methods for overcoming common cultivation challenges, a hands-on practical session demonstrating planting techniques, and individual business plan development with personalized guidance.
The programme successfully provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for establishing sustainable ornamental plant businesses, contributing to women's economic empowerment in the community.
