Sevalanka Foundation

Sevalanka Foundation Sevalanka Foundation has a 'community development' approach to poverty reduction.

Sevalanka Foundation is a leading Sri Lankan Non-Governmental Organization that enhances the capacity of disadvantaged rural communities to identify and address their own development needs. We focus on bringing individuals together to build strong civil society organisations that are capable of catalysing village, or even regional, level change. Our main programme areas cover Organisational Develo

pment, Disaster Management, and Livelihood Services. While we concentrate on these core areas we also recognise there are a number of key cross-cutting issues that must be considered in our work.

Building stronger schools. Creating brighter futures. 🏫✨🌱

Through the Nippon School Project, Sevalanka is working to transform primary and secondary school buildings across Sri Lanka's Northern Province into safer, more inclusive, and future-ready learning spaces, by rehabilitating school infrastructure and improving sanitation facilities. πŸ‡±πŸ‡°πŸ“šπŸ’

By engaging parents, teachers, students, and local communities throughout the process, this initiative empowers communities to take ownership of their schools while creating a sustainable model for long-term maintenance and development. πŸ€πŸ‘€πŸ”„

With an expected reach of over 30,000 primary and secondary school students, alongside teachers, parents, and local education authorities, the project is helping build an education system where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. πŸŽ’πŸŒŸπŸ“ˆ

We extend our sincere gratitude to The Nippon Foundation for its longstanding partnership with Sevalanka, and its continued commitment to creating equitable, resilient, and inclusive learning environments for children across Sri Lanka. πŸ™πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅βœ¨

Together, we're investing in classrooms that inspire, communities that lead, and futures filled with possibility. πŸ’ͺπŸ’«β€οΈ

Celebrating World Youth Skills Day! πŸŒβœ¨πŸŽ“

Skills have the power to transform lives, create opportunities, and build brighter futures. πŸŒŸπŸ“ˆπŸš€

Through the ""An Equal Slice for Everyone"" initiative, Pizza Hut Sri Lanka together with Sevalanka Foundation empowered economically marginalized youth and persons with disabilities, by providing industry-recognized training, practical experience, and pathways to meaningful employment in the Quick Service Restaurant sector. πŸ•πŸ€πŸ’ͺ

Since April 2023, the programme has trained 500+ young people, equipping them with industry-relevant skills and creating pathways to employment across Sri Lanka. πŸ‡±πŸ‡°πŸ‘₯πŸ’Ό

With training centres established nationwide and strong partnerships with vocational institutions, the initiative continues to invest in the next generation of skilled professionals. πŸ’πŸ› οΈ

This World Youth Skills Day, we celebrate all young people and partners working together to build a more inclusive, empowered, and skilled future. πŸ™ŒπŸ’«β€οΈ

Healing goes beyond providing immediate relief to affected communities. It also means restoring hope, resilience, and emotional well-being. ✨❀️

As part of the wider Biyagama Ditwah Relief Programme, Sevalanka Foundation continued to provide psychosocial support to Government officers who worked tirelessly on the front lines, assisting communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah. πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ‡±πŸ‡°πŸ‘₯

These sessions were designed to help manage stress, strengthen emotional resilience, and promote overall well-being, recognizing that those who care for others also deserve support. 🧠🌱πŸ’ͺ

This initiative forms part of Sevalanka Foundation's broader response in Biyagama, which includes the distribution of relief assistance to vulnerable families, well cleaning, and minor repairs to critical flood prevention infrastructure, as communities continue their journey towards recovery. πŸ› οΈ

We extend our sincere gratitude to The Coca-Cola Foundation for its generous partnership and unwavering support. πŸ™

Together, we are helping communities across Sri Lanka recover with dignity by addressing both immediate needs and long-term resilience. 🀝❀️🌟

For years, WUSC and Sevalanka Foundation have stood together as long-term partners driving sustainable, grassroots development across Sri Lanka. πŸ€βœ¨πŸ‡±πŸ‡°

Together, we recently wrapped up two impactful capacity-building programmes: Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) as a lens for Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) and Social Mobilization. πŸŽ―πŸ’‘

Through participatory learning and real-world case studies, our program officers, field coordinators, and community mobilizers achieved major shifts in how future interventions will be delivered.

By combining WUSC global expertise with Sevalanka’s deep-rooted grassroots trust, we have successfully unlocked a sustainable framework where communities own their progress long after project timelines end.

A huge thank you to WUSC for facilitating these invaluable workshops for the Sevalanka team. We are incredibly grateful for your dedicated support, shared vision, and for being such a committed, long-term partner in our mission to transform lives across Sri Lanka! πŸ™πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ‡±πŸ‡°
