Through the Community-Based Resilience, Women’s Empowerment and Action (CREA) project, supported by the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka , Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) continues to champion the rights, recognition, and leadership of women in climate-vulnerable communities across Bangladesh.
In the coastal landscapes of Rangabali, Patuakhali, women are at the forefront of agriculture and climate adaptation. Despite facing cyclones, salinity intrusion, river erosion, and unpredictable weather, they continue to grow food, preserve seeds, care for their families, and strengthen community resilience.
Yet many women farmers remain excluded from land ownership, farmer recognition, agricultural services, and decision-making processes. Their contributions are vital but too often remain invisible.
This report of The Climate Watch highlights the realities, challenges, and resilience of women farmers in coastal Bangladesh and underscores the urgent need for gender-responsive agricultural governance and climate action.
