The main reasons for starting the ‘House of Light’ on 30th June 2003.
01. To experiment practically the possibility of establishing the rehabilitation concept within the orphanage system of Sri Lanka.

tion to the children subject to various problems in the society as quickly as possible.

05. To make an example to the orphanage system of Sri Lanka.
06. To provide opportunities for development without any discrimination.
07. To confirm the right of the child’s participation and his right of obtaining information. The main concept of our organization was not just conducting a children’s home, but to provide temporary shelter and protection within a model big family to the children involved with various types of problems and to the children separated from their families. In that moment, every effort will be made to receive the maximum rights of the child as far as the organization can afford to do. Thereby, efforts will also be taken, more than the established orphanage concept, by understanding the child’s mind, try to provide a protection and development, which is closer to the child’s mind on behalf of the maximum benefit of the child devotedly. Among the main reasons for a child to be entered into an orphanage such s disputed family/mother’s employment abroad/mother deserting the child/father deserting the child/death of mother and father are some of the various reasons based on social, scientific and philosophical facts. Therefore, the child entering to an orphanage under long term or short term basis, for the purpose of making a significant mental and habitual change of mind of the child, the brain washing activity should be done by a professionally qualified person or a group of persons. It also should have done under short term or long term basis. An orphanage or protection centre is merely a temporary place only. The main activity of the ‘House of Light’ is, combining with the networks connected with protecting child rights, child protection and development, doing everything possible for the child protection and development of the social development program. Through this, while making a mental enlightenment of the children, it helps to get an practical experience and an opportunity to learn how to consume food by growing Organic vegetables and fruits without being poisoned by using chemical fertilizer and to receive a deep education on food technology. At the same time, by growing a special kind of herbal plants, an atmosphere will be created to develop the knowledge in that connection. Through this program of work, we have within the scope of our activities to provide the children an opportunity, while working together happily do their education as well. Within the space of these activities, as well as producing a child to the society as a well creative and talented child, it is our objective to make him relieved from dependable on others and who can take correct decisions and possess an excellent personality. It is also our desire to do this without ordering or without enforcement or without damaging the child’s independency and mainly with the intention of creating a child who is sensitive on environment and environmental exploration. ANIMAL HUSBANDRY. Through this program we have expected to save the lives of cattle subjected to slaughter and to manage those animals for the purpose of providing fresh milk to the children and to produce Organic fertilizer and to educate the children how to make carbonic fertilizer and to protect the environment by using cattle waste and to create an opportunity for the child to educate the child about of producing Gas from his young age. It is also our desire to see that this child is not a burden to the society by providing him two milk cows and make him a self confident person with an understanding about the society and the development activities and who could give a financial support to his family. DEVELOPMENT OF CHILD’S PROFESSIONAL TALENTS. Though this program, among the children raised in our family we are expecting to create a child who has at least one or two professional talents. For the purpose we are planning to co-ordinate with National Apprentice Board/Vocational Training Authority/other vocational training institutions and Technical Institutes , to create professional training opportunities and to create a equal participation activity with the society around. At the same time, it is our objective while confirming the rights of the child for development, develop the House of Light to the standard where the children could to keep constant social connections. In this our main effort is the main concept of Big Family. Here, instead of an institutional system of working for a salary, giving the child to grow up in a temporary family concept, more than the constant sense of inferiority complex and aggressive behavior, to create a child with friendly attitudes and develop the child with pleasant qualities, and instead of the mental instability of a broken family, it is our objective is to see that when he joins his family, he is a person who adds positive concepts to his family. This will create opportunity for the child to study rather than teaching him. Through coming into the mind of the child correctly the difference between the broken family and the happy family, the child will volunteer to see everything in comparison and to think with positive concepts. DEVELOPMENT OF CHILD’S SAVING ATTITUDES. Even though the child is grown up in the family or any other place, a certain amount of money has to be spent for that. Specially, it is easy to find out sponsors for the children growing up in the orphanages. At the same time, by showing the importance of the saving habits of parents or guardians for the future development of the children, a directive for that could be made. By improving the child’s knowledge development and saving capacity also assist the future development of the child. Specially, it will be a fundamental obligation building up children supported with technical knowledge to suit the economical background of our country. DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDRENS GOOD HABITS AND CONCEPTS. It is not an easy task the development of good habits and concepts specially in orphanages and broken families. This is a source of activity. The changing of habits positively such as cleanliness, education, aggressiveness, timidity, hating the society, cursing, maturity over the age, using bad words, robbery, and sneaking, not respecting the elderly, will happens in a slow space. The most suitable way to make this process speedy is make the child active. Through making the child active, it is easy to understand the child. In that instance, specially to open the child to a socialistic entrance, the person who get the work from the child should have a good training. Further, it is very important that he or she should be a person of good qualities and should be able to develop the feelings of the child that he is acting as a person like his father or mother who gives kindness and protection. The person who works with the children frequently supervise them. During that supervision, they cannot cheat the children. When the children start refusing him, it is extremely difficult to make it normal. Therefore, it is very important that the persons working with the children are should act with correct knowledge and correct guidance. For the development of good habits and concepts in the child it is very important to have that common aspect called ‘the family’. The association of mother and father and brothers and sisters and the relatives is very important. In order to bring an orphanage to this level also there should be a difference of concepts. It is not possible to do this stuck in the orphanage children’s act. What we provide he or she will be return back to us tomorrow.
