Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation is committed to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and other Dementias and removing the social stigma attached to the disease

The Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation (LAF) is an approved charity (Gazette Notification No. 1225), incorporated in 2001 and registered with the Ministry of Social Services. LAF is the ﬁrst non-statutory organization dedicated to advocating and addressing the needs of those diagnosed with cognitive impairment and dementia. LAF is a member of the world body Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), which

represents 79 countries — new members continue to join ADI’s membership annually, re-enforcing the growing importance of addressing dementia care issues across the globe. LAF has an impressive array of services on the drawing board to serve an extraordinarily growing population of seniors, including expatriates – the establishment of the Dementia Services and Information Centre; mobile services; communicate with seniors, elders’ homes and retired persons organisations; initiate relevant professional training and educational facilities and encourage indigenous research into causes and cures. The common mandate undertaken by the Alzheimer’s family world wide is to build awareness; serve, love and care for persons with dementia and support their families; provide relevant education; undertake research into causes and cures; and provide practical information to keep seniors happy, healthy and engaged.The Foundation exists and operates on the generosity of the community of international friends and associates – personal and corporate.
