The CSO INTERCEDE Project (ADRA Sri Lanka and TFCDF) organized a 3 divisional level and 1 district level of nutrition fairs and street drama awareness programs in the Norwood Divisional area of Nuwara Eliya District between 3rd February to 13th March 2026.
Malnutrition, poor dietary practices, and limited awareness of hygiene and sanitation remain key challenges among estate communities in the Norwood Divisional area of Nuwara Eliya District. These Campaign aimed to create a community learning platform where local residents, youth groups, and community organizations could actively participate in promoting better nutrition practices. These events brought together community members, youth groups, health officials, and estate management to raise awareness on nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and positive gender messaging programs to mainstream gender through promoting equality in nutrition at HHs.
Through interactive activities such as nutrition stalls, youth street dramas, cultural performances, and art competitions, participants learned about balanced diets and healthy lifestyle practices. Bogawanthalawa MOH officials conducted BMI screenings and health advice sessions, while locally available nutritious foods were showcased to encourage healthier eating habits.
More than 290 community members (Male Participants: 80, Female Participants: 162, Children: 75) participated across the events, demonstrating strong community interest and engagement in improving family nutrition and wellbeing.
