Lions Club of Gothatuwa New Century Leo initiated a project which involved installation of two new directional boards to improve accessibility and guidance to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH Hospital). The initiative was undertaken to assist patients, visitors, and the general public in locating the hospital more easily and efficiently, particularly during urgent situations.

The project was successfully completed with the generous sponsorship of Lion Dileka de Silva and Lion Chathurangi De Silva The newly installed boards enhance visibility, reduce confusion, and contribute to improved public service and community support. This initiative reflects the club’s strong commitment to humanitarian service and the development of public infrastructure.

The Cub Club successfully completed its first service project—a Beach Cleaning Project—at Balapitiya Beach, Sri Lanka, on 12th October. This initiative demonstrated the Cubs’ strong commitment to community service and environmental responsibility. The project was conducted under the guidance of Cub Leader Lion Sudaththa Ariyasena, MAF. During the project, the Cubs collected garbage along the beach and ensured its proper disposal in an environmentally responsible manner.

A proper, balanced diet offers extensive benefits, including reduced risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, improved mental well-being and mood, increased energy levels, and stronger physical structures.

Lions of GNCL were able identify the importance of this trending need of people and took initiative to invite Dr Wasana Marasinghe, Consultant Nutritionist for an interactive session to educate participants of the multi serviced health camp organized on Sunday, 25th January 2026 at the Gothatuwa Parami Viharaya

- Project for Free Diabetes Screening –

MULTI-SERVICE PROJECT organised by Lions Club of Gothatuwa New Century Leo on Sunday, 25th January 2026 at Gothatuwa Paramitha Viharaya.

We were able to carry out 250 plus diabetes screening tests and had the opportunity for participants to get a general health screening on this day free of charge.

- Childhood Cancer Awareness Program -

MULTI-SERVICE PROJECT organised by Lions Club of Gothatuwa New Century Leo on Sunday, 25th January 2026 at Gothatuwa Paramitha Viharaya.

We distributed 200 leaflets with the information on Childhood Cancer Awareness and Prevention to the service receivers.
