llnesses an opportunity for better care and comfort. Established in 1982, the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle is the largest, most-respected national healthcare provider in the south of Sri Lanka and the 3rd largest national hospital on the island. In 2007 a 5-story Cancer Treatment Centre was added at the site. Led by a dedicated staff, it supports the care of tens of thousands of patients from the southern districts and beyond. We founded the project: KCH this year with sincere hopes of donating much-needed materials for the Cancer Surgical Unit (Ward 48/49) at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Galle. The reason why we chose this ward in particular to refurbish was to give every patient an opportunity for better care. The severe lack of facilities meant that the cancer patients that are on their journey are not provided the opportunity to receive special care or treatment in the hospital. They are left to suffer in discomfort atop the pain caused by their illness.
