The Mahanama College Old Boys' Association extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Mahanama College OBA North America Branch for taking the initiative towards the establishment of the Robotics Club at our alma mater.

This timely initiative will undoubtedly create new opportunities for our students to explore innovation, technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence, empowering them with skills essential for the future.

We would also like to convey our special gratitude to distinguished old boy Dr. Waruna Fernando (Ohio University), Senior Director at Marvell Technology, San Francisco, California, for conducting an insightful and inspiring lecture on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. His willingness to share his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of Mahanamians is truly commendable.

Thank you to the OBA North America Branch and Dr. Waruna Fernando for your continued commitment to the advancement of Mahanama College and for inspiring our students to dream bigger and reach greater heights.

Waruna Fernando, Ph.D. (Ohio State University), Senior Director at Marvell Technology (San Francisco, California), conducted a lecture for Mahanama College students in grades 6–9 on AI and Robotics. This session marks the first step toward establishing a Robotics Club at the school.

Special thanks to the Principal, Mr. Ravilal Wijayawansha, and teachers in charge Rashmi Ranaweera, Mahanama College Old Boys' Association, Kosala, and Hiru Fernando for their support. We also appreciate all the students who showed great interest and enthusiasm.

MCOBANA is aligned to support this initiative and will be sending a shipment of resources to help kick start the Robotics Club

Recently, Methuja Lokuge has been inducted into the “MCOBANA Elite Honors” He represented Sri Lanka at the 6th Asian Beach Games in China. He was presented with a luxury wristwatch worth Rs. 50,000 by Duminda Wijayaratna (MCOBANA VP – Memberships). We hope this recognition inspires other athletes to bring pride and glory to Mahanama College.
