දේශගුණික යුක්තිය + කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම්: ඒකාබද්ධ සාධාරණත්වය උදෙසා පාර්ශවකරුවන් වගකිරීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය උදෙසා වූ #සේවක_කොමිසම ✊☘️

2026 මාර්තු 15 වන දින කොළඹ මහවැලි මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ Standup Movement Lanka මූලිකත්වයෙන් පැවති පාරිසරික යුක්තිය සහ කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ කම්කරුවන්ගේ #කොමිෂන්_සභාව යනු තවත් එක් සම්මන්ත්‍රණයක් නොව, දීර්ඝ කාලයක් නිහඬ කර තැබූ සත්‍යයක් ලෝකයට මුහුණ දීම සඳහා වූ #සාධාරණත්වයේ අවස්ථාවකි. එය දේශගුණික විනාශය සහ ආර්ථික ලාභය අතර අල්ලස් ගත් පද්ධතියක නිරුවත් ස්වභාවය හෙළි කළ මොහොතකි.

ගම්මාන වියළී ගියේ වර්ෂා කාලය අතුරුදන් වූ නිසා නොව, එය අයහපත් සංවර්ධන තීරණ, පරිසර විනාශය සහ බලවතුන්ගේ ලාභලෝලීත්වය නිසා සිදු වූවක් බව සියල්ල දන්නා රහසකි. එම විනාශයේ පළමු බර දරනුයේ දුප්පත් පවුල්ය. ගොවිතැන අහිමි වූ පසු, ජීවිත රැක ගැනීමට නගරයට පැමිණි තරුණ කාන්තාවන් අද “රැකියා” යන නාමයෙන් පවතින නව වහල්කමකට යටත් වී ඇත. විශේෂයෙන්ම ඇගලුම් කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවල ඔවුන්ට හමුවන්නේ කුලී ගෙවන ලද වේදනාවක් පමණි. මනුෂ්‍යත්වයට ගරු නොකරන වැඩපිළිවෙලක්, ජලය පානය කිරීමටත් අවසර ඉල්ලා සිටිය යුතු පද්ධතියක්, දැඩි රස්නය නිසා හුස්ම ගන්නවත් නොහැකි වැඩ පරිසරයක්, සහ ජීවිතය ඉලක්ක අංකවලට පමණක් සීමා කරන #අධිකාරී සංස්කෘතියක්.

දෛනික වැඩ ඉලක්කවලින් පසු ඔවුන් තම බෝඩිම්කාමරවලට යන්නේ විවේකයක් සඳහා වුවද එහි ඇත්තේ විවේකයකට සුදුසු පරිසරයක් නොව, අඳුරු, ඉඩකඩ සීමිත කුඩා කාමරයක් ඔවුන්ට හිමිය. පිරිසිදු ජලයක් නොමැති, #අධික රස්නයකින් යුතු #බෝඩිම්කාමරය දඩුවම් ලැබෙන තවත් එක් ස්ථානයක් පමණකි. මෙය ජීවිතයක් නොවේ, මෙය ජීවත් වීමට බලකරන දැඩි පීඩනයකි. එවැනි තත්වයක සිටින කම්කරුවන්ට එකට එක්ව එකතු වී කතා කිරීමටත්, #සංවිධානගත වීමටත් ඉඩකඩක් නොමැතිව ඔවුන්ව දැඩි ලෙස අයිතිවාසිකම් #උල්ලංඝනයන්ට ලක් කරනු ලබන, මෙම පද්ධතිය කොතරම් අසාධාරණද යන්න තවදුරටත් පැහැදිලි ය.

මෙහි විශාලතම අසාධාරණය මෙයයි: දේශගුණික විනාශයට වගකියව යුත්තේ මෙම කම්කරුවන් නොවේ. නමුත් එහි #වන්දිය_ගෙවිය යුත්තේ ඔවුන්ය. ලාභ උපයනු ලබන්නේ බලවතුන් වන අතර, ජීවිතය කැප කරන්නේ කම්කරුවන්ය. මෙය සරල අසමානතාවයක් නොව, මෙය අයිතිවාසිකම් උල්ලංඝනයකි, සමාජ ආර්ථික අධිකාරී අපරාධයකි, එමෙන්ම පද්ධතිගත අසාධාරණයකි.

මෙම කොමිෂන් සභාව මගින් ඉදිරිපත් වූ කරුණු ඉතා පැහැදිළි ය.
දේශගුණික යුක්තිය කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම්වලින් කිසිසේත්ම වෙන් කල නොහැක්ක කි. පරිසරය රැක ගැනීම පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡා කරන විට, එහි බර දරාගෙන සිටිනු ලබන කම්කරුවන්ගේ ජීවිත පිළිබඳව සාකච්ඡා නොකළහොත්, එය යුක්තියක් නොවේ,එය තවත් එක් ව්‍යාජ ක්‍රියාකාරීත්වයකි. තීරණ ගැනීමේ මූලාසනවල කම්කරුවන්ගේ හඬ නොමැතිව සිදුකරනු ලබන කිසිදු “සංවර්ධනයක්” හෝ “අනුකූලතාවයක්” සාධාරණ නොවේ.

Workers’ Commission on Climate Justice and Workers’ Rights✊🌿💪

The Workers’ on and Workers’ Rights, held at the Mahaweli Centre in Colombo on 15 March 2026, was not merely a conference; it was a critical platform that brought long-silenced truths into the public sphere. It served as a moment of accountability, exposing the harsh realities of a system where environmental destruction and economic gain are deeply intertwined.

It is widely understood that the decline of rural livelihoods is not solely the result of changing weather patterns, but rather the consequence of flawed development policies, environmental degradation, and the unchecked interests of those in positions of power. The burden of these failures is disproportionately borne by vulnerable communities. Many young women, displaced from their traditional agricultural livelihoods, migrate to urban areas in search of survival, only to encounter new forms of exploitation within the labor market.

In particular, within the garment industry, workers often endure extremely challenging conditions. These include restrictive workplace environments, excessive heat, limited access to basic necessities such as drinking water, and rigid systems that prioritize productivity over human dignity. Workers are frequently reduced to numerical targets, rather than being recognized as individuals with rights and needs.

After long and demanding workdays, workers return to overcrowded and inadequate accommodation facilities. These living conditions,often lacking proper ventilation, , and sufficient space,fail to provide even the most basic standards of rest and well-being. Such circumstances reflect not merely hardship, but a broader pattern of systemic neglect.

A critical injustice lies at the heart of this issue: workers who are least responsible for climate change are those who suffer its most severe consequences. While economic benefits are concentrated among the powerful, workers are left to bear the social and environmental costs. This represents not only inequality, but a profound violation of human and labor rights, rooted in structural and socio-economic injustice.

The findings and discussions of the Commission make one point unmistakably clear: climate justice cannot be separated from workers’ rights. Any discourse on environmental sustainability that excludes the lived realities of workers is incomplete and fundamentally unjust. Meaningful development and adaptation efforts must include workers’ voices and ensure their active participation in decision-making processes.

This is, ultimately, a struggle for equity and justice. Efforts to address climate change must also prioritize the protection and empowerment of workers.

In a world where environmental justice is absent, workers’ rights cannot be safeguarded.✊☘️❤️💪

සමාජය දිගු කාලයක් නොබලා සිටි කතාවක් ආලෝකයට ගෙන එන බලවත් කලා නිර්මාණයකි අභිසාරී. Standup Movement Lanka (SUML) විසින් නිෂ්පාදනය කර, ප්‍රවීණ සිනමා අධ්‍යක්ෂ චින්තන ධර්මදාසගේ අධ්‍යක්ෂණයෙන් නිමවූ මෙම චිත්‍රපටයේ පළමු ප්‍රදර්ශනය මාර්තු 9 වන දින මරදාන සිනමා ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්වුණි.

කලා ලෝකයේ නියෝජිතයින්, වෘත්තීය සමිති නායකයින්, සමාජ ක්‍රියාකාරීන්, විශ්වවිද්‍යාල බුද්ධිමතුන් සහ විවිධ අදහස් දරන ප්‍රභූන් ඇතුළු 150 කට අධික පිරිසක් මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක්වූහ. චිත්‍රපටය නැරඹීමෙන් අනතුරුව බොහෝ දෙනාගේ ප්‍රතිචාරය ඉතා ධනාත්මක වූ අතර, #ලිංගික ශ්‍රමිකයන්ගේ ජීවිතය ගෞරවයෙන් හා #මානවීය දෘෂ්ටිකෝණයකින් ඉදිරිපත් කළ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රමුඛතම කලා නිර්මාණයක් ලෙස මෙය බොහෝ දෙනා විසින් අගය කරන ලදී.

A powerful artistic creation that brings forward a story society has long ignored. by Stand Up Movement Lanka (SUML) and by veteran filmmaker Chinthana Dharmadasa, the first of Abhisari was held on March 9 at Cine City Cinema, Maradana, with more than 150 participants including artists, trade union representatives, social activists, academics, and individuals from diverse perspectives.

The overwhelming response from the audience was deeply positive. Many recognized this as one of the first major artistic creations in Sri Lanka to present s*x workers with dignity and a humane, perspective. Abhisari challenges stigma, questions prejudice, and opens a new conversation about , rights, and humanity.

For us at Stand Up Movement Lanka, this moment represents one of the most powerful and victorious initiatives we have undertaken this year,a bold artistic step toward changing how society sees and understands marginalized communities. ✊❤️

Standup Movement Lanka (SUML) විසින් නිෂ්පාදනය කර, ප්‍රවීණ සිනමා අධ්‍යක්ෂ #චින්තන_ධර්මදාසගේ අධ්‍යක්ෂණයෙන් නිමවූ මෙම චිත්‍රපටයේ #පළමු ප්‍රදර්ශනය මාර්තු 9 වන දින මරදාන Cine City සිනමා ශාලාවේදී සාර්ථකව පැවැත්වුණි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ලිංගික ශ්‍රමිකයන්ගේ ජීවිතය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ධනාත්මක අදහසක්, ගෞරවයක් සහ මනුෂ්‍යත්වයක් ඉදිරිපත් කළ විශාලතම සහ ප්‍රථම කලා නිර්මාණය ලෙස “ #අභිසාරී” බොහෝ දෙනා විසින් අගය කරන ලදී. දිගු කාලයක් සමාජයෙන් පසෙකලා, අසන්නට නොසිටින කතා, මිනිසුන් ලෙස ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිත, ගෞරවය සහ අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ කතා කරමින් මෙම චිත්‍රපටය සමාජයේ පැවති මතවාදයන්ට අභියෝගයක් ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ඇත.

මෙම චිත්‍රපටය හරහා ලිංගික ශ්‍රමිකයනන් පිළිබඳ සමාජයේ ඇති පුරුදු වූ දෘෂ්ටිකෝණය වෙනස් කරමින්, ඔවුන්ගේ ජීවිතය පිළිබඳ අලංකාර, මානවීය හා ගෞරවනීය දෘෂ්ටියක් සමාජයට ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට අපට හැකි විය.

එමෙන්ම, ලිංගික ශ්‍රමිකයන් ඇතුළු පසෙකලාව #ආන්තිකව ඇති ජන කොට්ඨාශ ගැන කතා කරන බව පවසමින් එම ජන කොට්ඨාශයන් තමන්ගේ අභිලාෂ සඳහා භාවිතා කරන අයගේ ව්‍යාජත්වයද මෙම චිත්‍රපටය හරහා අනාවරණය කරමින්, එවැනි බලවේගයන්ට ද තදින් අභියෝගයක් ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට හැකි වූ බව සහභාගි වූ බොහෝ අයවලුන්ගේ අදහස විය.

“Abhisari” – The Naked Soul of a Beautiful Society

“Abhisari” is a powerful artistic creation that brings to light the lives and realities of a community that society has long ignored and silenced. Produced by Stand Up Movement Lanka (SUML) and directed by veteran film director Chinthana Dharmadasa, the of the film was successfully held on March 9 at Cine City Cinema in Maradana.

More than 150 participants attended the screening, including representatives from the art community, trade union leaders, social activists, university academics, and individuals from diverse ideological backgrounds. At the end of the screening, the overwhelmingly positive responses from the audience marked a significant victory for all of us.

Many viewers recognized “Abhisari” as one of the first major artistic works in Sri Lanka to address the lives of s*x workers with dignity and present a positive and humane perspective about them. The film courageously challenges long-standing social stigmas while highlighting the humanity, struggles, and lived realities of s*x workers.

Through this film, the creators hoped to reshape public perceptions and open a new space for understanding the lives of s*x workers with empathy, , and sensitivity. It also challenged the narratives of those who claim to speak for marginalized communities while often using those communities for their own interests.

“Abhisari” stands as a powerful cultural intervention that questions prejudice and invites society to reflect deeply on dignity, rights, and humanity. We believe this film has the potential to contribute to meaningful changes in how society views and engages with s*x workers.

For us at Stand Up Movement Lanka, this screening represents one of the most significant and triumphant initiatives we have undertaken this year,an artistic milestone in advocating for the dignity and recognition of marginalized communities.

ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය නිමිත්තෙන්, කාන්තාවන්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම්, කම්කරුවන්ගේ ගෞරවය සහ සමානාත්මතාවය තහවුරු කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය අවධාරණය කරමින් ඇවරිවත්තේදී විශේෂ සැමරුමක් පැවැත්විණි. Standup Movement Lanka , ඩාබිදු සාමූහිකය, ශ්‍රමාභිමානී කේන්ද්‍ර, රෙඩ් ආයතනය සහ TGCW එක්ව සංවිධානය කළ මෙම වැඩසටහන තුළ කම්කරු කාන්තාවන් මුහුණ දෙන සමාජ, ආර්ථික සහ වෘත්තීය අසාධාරණයන්ට එරෙහිව එකමුතුවෙන් හඬ නගා සිටියෙමු.

අදත් බොහෝ කාන්තාවන් වැඩබිම් තුළ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයට, ලිංගික හිරිහැරවලට, මානසික හා ශාරීරික හිංසනයට මුහුණ දෙමින් සිටිති. එවැනි තත්ත්වයන් කිසිසේත්ම ඉවසිය නොහැකි අතර, සුරක්ෂිත, ගෞරවය සහිත සේවා පරිසරයක් සෑම කම්කරුවෙකුගේම #මූලික_අයිතියකි. ඒ සඳහා වැඩබිම් තුළ ඇති සියලු ආකාරයේ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයන් තුරන් කිරීම සහ සාධාරණ හා ආරක්ෂිත සේවා පද්ධති ගොඩනැගීම අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වේ.

ඒ අතරම, කාන්තාවන් විසින් ඉටු කරන වැටුප් රහිත සුරැකුම් වැඩද ශ්‍රමයක් ලෙස පිළිගැනීම වැදගත් වේ. සුරැකුම් මධ්‍යස්ථාන, ආරක්ෂිත ප්‍රවාහන පහසුකම්, ප්‍රමාණවත් මාතෘ හා පිය නිවාඩු, සෞඛ්‍ය ආරක්ෂාව සහ තම්‍යශීලී සේවා රටාවන් සකස් කිරීම කාන්තාවන්ගේ ආර්ථික සහභාගීත්වය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීමට අත්‍යවශ්‍යය.

කම්කරු වේදිකාවල සහ තීරණ ගැනීමේ ස්ථානවල කාන්තා නියෝජනය තහවුරු කිරීම සඳහා ජාතික ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් අවශ්‍ය වේ. වෘත්තීය සමිති, කම්කරු මණ්ඩල සහ ප්‍රතිපත්ති ගන්නා ස්ථාන තුළ කාන්තාවන්ට සමාන අවස්ථා හා නියෝජනය ලැබිය යුතුය. #සමානාත්මතාවය යනු නියෝජනයෙන් ආරම්භ වන ක්‍රියාවලියකි.

එසේම, ලිංගිකත්වය, ජාතිය, ආගම, භාෂාව හෝ සමාජ පසුබිම මත පදනම් වූ #වෙනස්_කොට දැක්වීම් වැඩබිම් තුළින් සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ඉවත් කළ යුතුය. සන්ක්‍රමණික කම්කරුවන්ට #ඡන්දය භාවිතා කිරීම සඳහා විකල්ප ක්‍රමවේද හඳුන්වා දීමත්, තාවකාලිකව පදිංචි වන කම්කරුවන්ට නිවසකට ඇති අයිතිය තහවුරු කරන ප්‍රතිපත්ති සකස් කිරීමත්, කම්කරුවන්ගේ #භාෂා_අයිතිවාසිකම් ආරක්ෂා කිරීමත් අත්‍යවශ්‍ය වේ.

මෙම සියලු ඉල්ලීම් සමඟ, කම්කරුවන්ගේ ගෞරවය, ආරක්ෂාව සහ සමානාත්මතාවය තහවුරු කරන සමාජයක් ගොඩනැගීමට අපි එකමුතුවෙන් හඬ නගමු.

“Let’s unite for Rights, Respect and Equality!” ✊🏽

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a collective commemoration was held in Avarivatta bringing together workers and activists to raise our voices for , , and justice for women workers. This event was jointly organized by Dabindu Collective, Stand Up Movement Lanka (SUML), Shramaabhimani Center, RED Organization, and TGCW.

In a time when women and girls across rural, urban, local, and global contexts continue to face serious violence, discrimination, and economic injustice, we gathered to stand in solidarity and highlight the urgent need to protect the rights and dignity of workers. Women workers, especially those in the Free Trade Zones, continue to face workplace violence, s*xual harassment, psychological pressure, and conditions. Such injustices cannot and should not be tolerated.

We demand safe and dignified workplaces where every worker’s rights are respected. Unpaid care and domestic work must be recognized as labor. Policies that support women’s participation in the workforce,such as accessible childcare facilities, safe transportation, adequate maternity and paternity leave, healthcare protection, and flexible working conditions, are essential to ensure women’s economic empowerment.

We also call for the establishment of a national gender policy to ensure women’s representation in labor platforms, including trade unions, workers’ councils, and decision-making spaces. Equality begins with representation, and women must have equal opportunities to participate and lead.

Discrimination in the workplace based on gender, ethnicity, religion, language, or social background must be eliminated. must have access to alternative voting methods such as advance voting, and policies must be developed to guarantee the right to housing for temporary resident workers. Protecting workers’ language rights is also a key part of ensuring dignity and inclusion.

Today we raise our voices for equality, against violence, and against injustice. Women’s rights are human rights, and the struggle for dignity and justice for women workers continues.

Let us fight for equality.

Let us build workplaces with dignity and safety.

Regardless of whether it is categorised as formal or informal, labour performed to earn a living is work. Yet social stigma, restrictive legal interpretations, and patriarchal ideologies that seek to control women’s bodies have contributed to the continued denial of the rights and dignity of women engaged in s*x work.

The real stories of s*x workers across — women who struggle as informal workers to survive — are brought to society through “ ”, not with shame, but with dignity.

We invite you to stand in solidarity in the ongoing struggle for their fundamental human rights, protection, respect, and legal recognition. ✊🏽

පාරිසරික යුක්තිය සහ කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම් එකිනෙකට වෙන් කළ නොහැකි අරගල දෙකකි. 🌱✊🏽

Standup Movement Lanka (SUML) විසින් පාරිසරික යුක්තිය සම්බන්ධ ක්‍රියාමාර්ගවලට කම්කරුවන් සෘජුවම එකතු කර ගැනීමේ අරමුණින් විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවක් සහ වැඩමුළුවක් පැවැත්වීය. මෙම වැඩමුළුවේ මූලික අවධානය යොමු වුණේ “ #කම්කරුවන්ගේ දෘෂ්ටි කෝණයෙන්” #පාරිසරික_යුක්තිය ගැන කතා කිරීම හා එය ගොඩනැගීම පිළිබඳවයි.

මෙහි සම්පත් දායකයෙකු ලෙස පාරිසරික යුක්තිය පිළිබඳ සමාජ ක්‍රියාකාරිනියක් වන #කසුමි රණසිංහ ආරච්චිගේ සහභාගී වූ අතර, කම්කරුවන්ගේ ජීවිතය, සෞඛ්‍යය, ආදායම සහ අනාගතය පරිසර අර්බුදය හේතුවෙන් කෙසේ බලපෑමට ලක්වන්නේද යන්න පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු සංවාදයක් ගොඩනැගීමට අපට හැකි විය.
නිදහස් වෙළෙඳ කලාප, කර්මාන්තශාලා, ගම්මාන හා නාගරික ප්‍රදේශ අතර පවතින සම්බන්ධතාවය, පිරිසිදු ජලයට අහිමි වීම, දූෂණය, අධික උෂ්ණත්වය, ආරක්ෂිත නොවන සේවා පරිසරය වැනි කරුණු කම්කරුවන්ගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් සෘජුවම බාධා කරන ආකාරය මෙහිදී හෙළිදරව් විය.
පාරිසරික යුක්තිය නොමැතිව කම්කරු යුක්තියක් නැත. කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම් නොමැතිව පාරිසරික යුක්තියක්ද සම්පූර්ණ නොවේ. එබැවින්, කම්කරුවන්ගේ හඬ පරිසර අරගලවල මධ්‍යයේ තැබීම අපගේ වගකීමයි.

අපි ඉදිරියටත් කම්කරුවන් පරිසර යුක්තියේ ක්‍රියාකාරීන් ලෙස ශක්තිමත් කරමින්, පරිසර අර්බුදය හේතුවෙන් කම්කරු අයිතිවාසිකම් ඉටු වීමට ඇති බාධා හෙළිදරව් කරමින්, එකමුතුවෙන් සාධාරණ සහ සුරක්ෂිත අනාගතයක් ගොඩනැගීමට කැපවෙමු.🌿🌳✊🇱🇰

Stand Up Movement Lanka (SUML) recently held a discussion focused on integrating workers into efforts, recognizing this as an important opportunity to strengthen both climate justice and workers’ rights movements.

As part of this initiative, a workshop was conducted to explore how conversations on climate justice can be built and framed from a workers’ perspective. The session aimed to center the lived experiences of workers and understand how environmental issues directly impact their lives, livelihoods, health, and working conditions.

We were privileged to have Kasumi Ranasinghe Arachchige, a engaged in climate justice, as the resource person for this discussion. Through this engagement, we were able to uncover important insights into how environmental injustice disproportionately affects workers, particularly in relation to access to clean water, safe working environments, climate impacts, and sustainable livelihoods.

The discussion further highlighted the structural barriers that prevent workers from fully realizing their rights in the context of ongoing environmental challenges. It reaffirmed that climate justice and workers’ rights are deeply interconnected and cannot be addressed in isolation.

SUML remains committed to continuing this important work, strengthening the integration of workers into environmental justice advocacy while addressing the obstacles that hinder the achievement of workers’ rights due to environmental injustice. Through collective action and solidarity, we strive to build a just, sustainable, and equitable future for all.

කම්කරුවන්ගේ ජීවිත අතට ගෙන පාලනය කිරීමට ලට තියෙන අයිතිය මොකක්ද ?

අවිස්සාවේල්ලේ පිහිටි brndix කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවේ දී පසුගිය ඔක්තෝම්බර් මාසයේදී සේවය කරමින් සිටි #පුෂ්පලතා බලධාරීන්ගේ #නොසැලකිලිමත්කම නිසා ජීවීතයෙන් සමුගන්නවා. රෝගී තත්ත්වය හේතුවෙන් නිවාඩු ඉල්ලා තිබියදීත් දෛනික ඉලක්ක සම්පූර්ණ කිරීමට බල කිරීම නිසා ඇයට නිවාඩු හිමි නොවී ශ්‍රම සූරාකෑමකට ඇය ලක්වෙනවා.

පුෂ්පලතාට හිමි විය යුතු සාධාරණත්වය වෙනුවෙන් සටන් කරන වෘත්තීය සමිති නායකයන්ට සහ අනෙකුත් සාමාජිකාවන්ට බ්‍රැන්ඩික්ස් ආයතනය විසින් මේ වන විට විවිධ ක්‍රම ඔස්සේ #තර්ජන එල්ල කරමින් සිටිනවා. මෙම සියලු තර්ජන අප තරයේ #හෙලා දකිනවා. පිටතට සිටින වෘත්තීය සමිති හට බ්‍රැන්ඩික්ස් මේ ආකාරයෙන් බලපෑම් කරන්නේ නම්, තම ආයතනය තුළ සේවය කරනකම්කරුවන් කොයි ආකාරයෙන් #වහල් සේවයේ යොදවමින් ඔවුන් හට පීඩාකාරී පරිසර වැඩ පරිසරයක් නිර්මාණය කරනු ඇද්දයත් අපට වටහා ගත හැකියි. සංගම් නායකයන් හෝ කම්කරුවන් මත තර්ජන හෝ බියගැන්වීම් සිදු කිරීම ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී මූලධර්මයන්ට පටහැනි වන අතර එය වහා නතර කළ යුතුය.
පුෂ්පලතාට යුක්තිය ලබා දීම පමණක් නොව, සියලුම ඇගලුම් කම්කරුවන් හට ආරක්ෂිත, ගෞරවයෙන් පිරි, සාධාරණ සේවා පරිසරයක් සහතික කිරීම උදෙසා කුමන තර්ජන හමුවේ වුවද අපි අඛණ්ඩව සටන් කරන්නෙමු.

What right does have to take control over the lives of its workers?

Pushpalatha, who was employed at the Brandix factory in Awissawella last October, tragically passed away under circumstances that raise serious concerns regarding negligence by the relevant authorities. It has been reported that despite requesting leave due to illness, she was denied permission and compelled to complete her daily production targets. Such actions, if confirmed, reflect a deeply troubling disregard for workers’ health, dignity, and fundamental rights.

We are further alarmed by reports that Brandix is currently threatening trade union leaders and members who are advocating for justice in this case. We strongly condemn any form of intimidation or retaliation against union representatives or workers. Threats and coercion are violations of democratic principles and undermine the fundamental right to freedom of association.

If external trade union activities are being influenced or suppressed in this manner, it raises serious questions about the nature of the internal working environment and whether workers are being subjected to oppressive and exploitative conditions.

We call for an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into Pushpalatha’s death, and for accountability where wrongdoing is established. Beyond justice for Pushpalatha, we remain committed to advocating for a safe, dignified, and equitable working environment for all garment workers.

No threat or act of intimidation will deter the ongoing struggle for justice, accountability, and the protection of workers’ human rights.
