Sri Lankan Elephant Protectors

Due to the elephant human conflict there is a threat to the wild elephants in Sri Lanka. Our aim is to minimize the threat to the life of wild elephants.

elephants take necessary step to stop conflicts between wild elephants

Taking steps to increase the elephant population which is dwindling rapidly.
• Making necessary steps to protect elephants who meet with various accidents and if possible taming them. Elephants who become sick
She elephants between the age of 5 – 15 are taken – care specially and engaging them in the breeding process. Elephants who are in orphanages such as Udawalawa and Pinnawala are given special care and taking necessary steps to engage them in breeding process under the care of specialist advisers.

04. Taking necessary steps to the health condition of the tamed elephants by improving facilities such
as medical – care food shelter hygiene etc.

• A member of the team is appointed to collect data of each elephant and collecting all the necessary information about the elephant. Ex :-
• Diseases and the suitable medicine
• Ways of providing the elephant with vitamins and calcium
• Vaccination
• Healing wounds by providing proper treatment
• Any kind of insect. We hope to get the support from indigenous and western doctors for getting about information
05. Getting and exchanging the knowledge about the life of elephants from those who have
traditional knowledge and experiences with elephants and then transferring that knowledge to the present generation.

06. Taking steps to improve the well – being of mahouts
• Educational practical cessions
• Planning special programmers for the mahouts who face with various difficulties and problems.
• Making necessary programmers to exchange traditional knowledge among mahouts.
• Working for the future wel – being of the mahouts who become old.
