Child Action Lanka exists to assist and transform the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in Sri Lanka.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆.

CAL’s𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻-𝘁𝗼-𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗧𝗣) initiative families with seed funding to explore small-business and build sustainable sources of income.

Over the last few weeks,𝟯𝟬 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 received PTP support to pursue income-generating avenues that can them manage their financial needs, strengthen their livelihoods and create greater security for their .

PTP is built on the belief that opportunity can be shared — and that one family’s progress can help create an opportunity for another.

⚽ 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲. 𝗔 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴.

The field was alive with energy, determination and joy as children from across Child Action Lanka’s centres came together for our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, conducted in partnership with the “𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿” initiative of the 𝗨𝗘𝗙𝗔 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻.

But this tournament is about more than goals, scores or trophies. It is about creating a space where every child can play, belong and thrive.

Through this partnership, we are working to provide 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮,𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 across nine CAL centres with regular, safe access to sport—while using the power of football to break down barriers and bring children from different ethnic and religious backgrounds together.

On the field, children learn lessons that reach far beyond the final whistle: teamwork, discipline, confidence, leadership and resilience. Girls and boys play side by side, children with disabilities participate fully, and every child is given the opportunity to discover what they are capable of.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.

Day 2 of Child Action Lanka’s Child Rights Council gave young advocates a meaningful platform to bring their experiences, creativity and insights to the table — identifying the challenges facing their communities and exploring pathways towards .

Through open dialogue, thoughtful discourse and collaborative problem-solving, our voices demonstrated that they are not merely recipients of change, but active contributors to shaping it.

The Rights Council is more than a space for conversation. It is a platform where young people are empowered to speak from experience, listen to diverse perspectives, challenge and work together towards meaningful solutions — transforming their experiences into action and their voices into pathways for a better .

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘁.

At 𝗖𝗔𝗟’𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗮 𝗖𝗗𝗖, children and young people are given more than support—they are given opportunities to learn, grow, dream and shape a brighter future.

Through education, skills development, sports, child rights initiatives and sustainable community programmes, we are working alongside families to build stronger, more hopeful communities.

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Students from Tonbridge School , UK, recently spent two weeks serving alongside the community in Batticaloa—and their contribution went far beyond expectations.

Braving challenging weather and undertaking demanding physical labour, the helped construct a multi-purpose classroom at the Batticaloa CDC, creating a new space where and youth can develop employable skills and build brighter futures.

Their service extended beyond construction. The team conducted Child Rights programmes, visited rural schools and met in their homes, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the community. Through sports, games and recreational activities, they also formed meaningful bonds with the children and youth, encouraging them to big and believe in what is possible.

At Child Action Lanka, we believe should have meaningful opportunities to speak about the issues affecting their lives and be part of conversations that shape their .

Last weekend, brought together young delegates from 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆, 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲, 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗮, 𝗔𝗸𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗰𝗵𝗶, 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝘂, 𝗡𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘆𝗮, 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Through committees focusing on the Right to , Fundamental Rights, and the Right to Participation, on Day 1 of the Council, children shared experiences from their communities, discussed challenges, exchanged perspectives and worked to begin drafting their own resolutions.

More than an , the CRC is a platform for children to think critically, speak confidently and participate meaningfully in decisions that concern them.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱.

At Child Development Centres, we create safe spaces where are protected, empowered to speak up and equipped to understand and exercise their rights.

Through regular Child Protection programmes across our CDCs, children and learn to recognise safe and unsafe environments, understand potential risks and make informed choices that keep them safe.

Recently, the Galle CDC conducted a Child Protection awareness programme using age-appropriate demonstrations, practical activities and role play. Through engaging, hands-on , children explored how to respond to situations that may place them at risk and the actions they can take to protect themselves.

Because protecting children begins with knowledge, confidence and the to speak up.
