Today, we brought the pilot project of Sahana Uyana to a successful close after six months of learning, planting, growing and harvesting together.
What began with a simple idea — help people grow their own food — became something much more. Over these six months, 40 participants learned how to grow their own vegetables, care for their gardens, and experience the joy of putting food on their own tables.
From tiny seeds to healthy harvests, Sahana Uyana has shown us that when people are given the knowledge, opportunity and encouragement to grow, even small spaces can produce something meaningful.
For The Soup Bowl, food security is more than providing a meal today. It is also about helping people build the ability to provide for themselves tomorrow.
Sahana Uyana may be ending as a pilot project, but we hope the seeds planted over these six months will continue to grow — in gardens, in homes and in lives.
