Happy Ramadan!!
Assalamu Alaikum warahmathullahi Wabarakathuhu

For helping Souls
In our society, it was widely believed that if a child is born with a disability or special needs, they cannot receive education or vocational training. It was commonly perceived that such children would be confined to a dark room with no opportunities. Our Centre was established to change this perception and to make the world recognize that individuals with disabilities are full of energy they are like fragrant flowers in humanity! They can lead successful lives.
It is a great blessing from the Almighty Allah that over the past several years, our Centre has unveiled its projects, showcasing their achievements along with their sources and photos under the title of the Holy Ramadan Appeal. It is a great blessing from the Almighty Allah that your generous donations and assistance will further enrich and support the charitable work and efforts of the Islamic Centre for the Physically Handicapped of Thihariya. All praise is due to Allah.

EDUCATION

After completing their studies, over 1000 students have left our academy equipped with numerous career opportunities, and are excelling not only in their family lives but also in their interactions with the public. Our students have successfully passed the Grade-5 scholarship examination and the Ordinary Level (O/L) examination conducted by the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka. Additionally, more than eight graduates, who completed their Advanced Level (A/L) examinations at other schools, have entered university and are making significant contributions to society today.
Many of them continue to serve as sign language analysts both domestically and internationally, while also fulfilling roles as Counselors, Teachers, and Bribery Investigation Officers. These achievements have solidified the reputation of our institution, ensuring its enduring fame. In addition, the teachers who teach for them have been trained in teacher training colleges and have gone abroad for special education. We offer education for the deaf through sign language, for the blind through braille, for others through normal methods and cater to the needs of mentally re****ed students through specialized methods. Additionally, we provide free food, medical care, and accommodation facilities for our students.

You know the expenses associated with maintaining a facility for approximately 150 differently abled and 40 faculty members compared to today. The Centre provides all services free of charge, yet we spend Rs 35,000 daily on food alone. The electricity and other expenses such as costs of minor staff and cost of non-government appointed teachers contribute to our monthly bills. We have been covering all these expenses with the grace of Almighty Allah and with your cooperation. We appeal to you to extend your support during the upcoming holy Ramadan to ensure the smooth continuation of our work. Despite our Centre's successful operation for over 39 years, several projects remain incomplete. We require science labs for students, proper setup of the computer lab, completion of SMART classrooms, and acquisition of BRAIL equipment for blind students If this continues, will the future of our differently abled people be in question? causing us worry due to fear and panic.
So, one of our plans is to buy about 5 acres of land for a permanent income, which will be very beneficial. The benefits include
* Renting out house.
* Major Plantation and small Plantation.
* Animal husbandry.
All of these are ways to generate permanent income for our Centre.
We pray to Allah, together with the disabled, to fulfill this purpose. It is our hope that you will join us as partners in brightening their lives.
“Do not do charity by defining it as so much! Allah will define his blessings upon you.”

We are deeply touched and immensely grateful to share a special moment with you all. Two incredible souls from France recently blessed our organization with a donation of dry food essentials. Their generosity knows no bounds, and their kindness has touched the hearts of everyone at the Islamic Centre for the Physically Handicapped.

With a heart full of gratitude, we extend our sincerest thanks to these wonderful women who have made a difference in the lives of the physically challenged individuals we serve. Their act of kindness reminds us that compassion and humanity have no boundaries.

🌾 The donation of dry food is not just food for the body; it's nourishment for the soul. It helps us support those in need and ensures that we can continue our mission of providing care, support, and opportunities for individuals with physical challenges.

🌟 Exciting Visit from University of Peradeniya! 🌟

Today, we had the honor of hosting students and staff members from the University of Peradeniya as part of their “Direct Practice with Groups and Communities” course. They chose our Islamic Centre for the Physically Handicapped for a field visit to gain practical insights into social group work and community organization.

It was an enriching experience, as we showcased our dedication to providing free education and accommodation for disabled students. They got to witness firsthand how we implement theoretical knowledge in real-life scenarios.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. (Rev). Omalpe Somananda Thero, Lecturer in charge of the course, for choosing our institution and for the warm collaboration.

This visit was a significant step in strengthening community relationships and promoting the spirit of inclusivity.

We’re proud to be a part of this educational journey! 📚🤝
