We cannot believe it’s been three years since the Alumni Association was organized under the presidency of Chamaka Rajapaksha and vice Ranul Kalupahana in 2017. It all started with a few people wanting to have a connection and not lose the friends they had in school. On a Wednesday like no other, 18th of January, 2017 a group of fresh graduates from the years 2015 and 2014 gathered at school to further broaden the idea of an Alumni. On that day, under the supervision of the School Principle at the time Ms Kumari Wijerathne, the first Executive Committee was elected following the amends of the 2017 constitution.

At the beginning the support wasn’t at best as we had just started and nobody was sure of what we meant or what we were planning on doing. All we had at the start was a Whatsapp group of about 100 people and less than 10 people to get everything moving. With this group of people that we called ourselves the executive committee we set out to organize the first Official Event. We had no idea what to organize just wanted to do something to bring people together. After discussions and extensive planning we settled on organizing a cricket tournament which later became to be called as Battle of the Donor’s, where the event is organized in the form of a fund raiser and the funds raised were to be donated every year.

Battle of the Donor’s 2017 was held in February with massive success and a smooth floor. With 8 Teams registered, the 6-a-side softball cricket tournament took place at the school grounds with teams representing the Past Pupils, Parents Association as well as School Staff. At the end of the day, Teams representing School staff and Parents Association met in the final and School Staff manage to secure the victory after a close match.

Decisions and Bonds made on the first few weeks of the Alumni Initiative made today possible and we are thankful to everybody who helped even with a word and to everybody who sicked with us. It’s close to being three years since the Alumni was founded and we’ve organized Two Fundraiser Cricket Tournaments, Two Donations to Maharagama Cancer Hospital, Two Annual Alumni Nights (Conclavis), Two Awurudu Celebrations, One Paduru Party, One Inter Association Basketball Tournament and we aren’t stopping. The coming year will consist of Battle of the Donor’s Cricket Encounter, Awurudu Celebrations, Community Donation, Conclavis 4.0 and even more at your request.
