Empowering Girls for a Safer Tomorrow.

The Rotary Club of Nallur, in partnership with the "YES" (Youth Education & Safety) Initiative, California, USA, successfully conducted a Self-Defence Training Programme for the girl students of J/Uduvil Girls' College.
The programme focused on building self-confidence, personal safety awareness, resilience, and practical self-defence skills, empowering young girls to face everyday challenges with confidence.

As part of this initiative, learning kits were also distributed to students from economically disadvantaged families, supporting their education and creating new hope for learning.

Our sincere appreciation to the Principal, the Teacher-in-Charge of the Interact Club, the Interact Club members, Rotary President Rtn. Eng. A. Abiraj, Past Presidents PP. Rtn. Dr. M. Pratheeban and PP. Rtn. N. Suganthan, and everyone who contributed to the success of this meaningful project.

Rotary International – Maternal and Child Health Month.

Every July, Rotary International observes Maternal and Child Health Month, highlighting the importance of improving the health and well-being of mothers, newborns, and children. The month promotes safe pregnancy, safe childbirth, breastfeeding, proper nutrition, immunization, and equitable access to quality healthcare for every mother and child.

Guided by the vision "Healthy Mothers – Healthy Children – Stronger Communities," Rotary clubs around the world implement sustainable humanitarian projects that ensure every mother and every child has the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life.

"The health of a mother shapes the future of a community."

In commemoration of Rotary International's Maternal and Child Health Month, and in response to a request from the Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Uduvil, the Rotary Club of Nallur organized a nutrition support programme for breastfeeding mothers.

Under the coordination of Mrs. Sujeeva, Public Health Midwife of the Eevinai area, nutritious Sathuma food packs were distributed to 20 breastfeeding mothers at the Punnaalaikadduvan Eevinai Primary Health Care Unit.

The initiative was designed to promote maternal nutrition and support the health and well-being of both mothers and their infants during the breastfeeding period.

The programme was graced by Dr. A.Jayakumaran, Medical Officer of Health, Uduvil; the Assistant Medical Officer of Health; Public Health Midwives of the area; Club President Eng. Rtn. A. Abiraj; Project Chair and Past President PP. Rtn. Dr. M. Pratheeban; Past President and Teacher Adviser PP. Rtn. M. Jegananthiny; Past President and Teacher PP. Rtn. N. Suganthan; Past President PP. Rtn. T. Ravinathas; and the beneficiary mothers.

First Weekly Meeting of the Rotary Year 2026/27.

The first Weekly Meeting of Rotary Club of Nallur for the Year 2026/27 was successfully held today at Vadali Guest House, Chunnakam, under the leadership of the newly elected President, Eng.Rtn. A.Abiraj.
In his opening address, President Eng.Rtn.A. Abiraj expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Immediate Past President Rtn.A.Dickson and his Board of Directors for their outstanding leadership and dedicated service rendered to the club during the previous Rotary year.
He also requested the full support and commitment of the newly appointed Board members to work together in achieving the club's goals and carrying out meaningful service projects during the current Rotary year.
The President then presented the proposed activities and service projects planned for the month and discussed the roadma
p for their successful implementation with the members.
The meeting concluded with active participation and enthusiasm from the members, marking a positive and promising beginning to the Rotary Year 2026/27.

The Rotary Transition Meeting was held today at Vadaly Restaurant.

During the meeting, the incoming President, Eng. Rtn.A.Abiraj, officially accepted the responsibility for the upcoming Rotary year from President Rtn.A.Dickson in the presence of Past Presidents and club members.
The event symbolized unity, leadership, and the continued commitment to service above self for the new Rotary year.

LEARNING KITS DISTRIBUTION

At the request of the Principal of Kopay Navalar Tamil Vidyalayam, a programme to distribute learning kits to school students was held at the school on 04/05/2026 with the financial assistance of the District Grant, RID 3220 – Sri Lanka & Maldives.

The event was attended by the school Principal, teachers, and members of our club, including Club President Rtn. A. Dickson, Past President Rtn.Dr. Pratheeban, and PP Rtn. Ravinathas, who distributed the learning materials to the students.

This community service project, organized with the objective of supporting and encouraging the educational development of students, was highly appreciated by everyone present.

13th CHARTER DAY CELEBRATION

The Charter Day of our Club was ceremonially celebrated on the 12th April at the Vadaly Guest House, Chunnakam, under the distinguished leadership of President Rtn. A. Dickson. The event commenced with the traditional cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing unity and the enduring spirit of the Club.
The celebration was graced by the presence of Past Presidents, whose participation added prestige and significance to the occasion. The evening concluded with a fellowship dinner, providing an opportunity for members to strengthen camaraderie and reflect on the Club’s continued commitment to service and excellence.
