“Walk Towards a Healthy Life”
A “Walk Towards a Healthy Life” was successfully organized by the Teaching Hospital, Jaffna, today morning at 6.00 AM The walk commenced from the Teaching Hospital premises, proceeded along the main roads, and concluded at the hospital. Herbal Porridge (Kola Kenda) is a traditional Sri Lankan, healthy and nutritious breakfast prepared using green leafy vegetables, medicinal herbs, rice, and coconut milk. It is commonly made with leaves such as Mudukkaran, Thuthuvalai, Ponnanganni, and curry leaves, blended together with ginger and garlic. This wholesome porridge is well known for its health benefits and is widely consumed to promote immunity, digestion, and overall well-being.With the objective of promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising public awareness on the importance of regular physical activity and healthy nutrition, participants were provided with Herbal Porridge (Kola Kenda) sponsored by Rotary Club of Nallur.
The event was graced by the presence of the Director and Deputy Directors of the Teaching Hospital, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Jaffna, Consultants, Medical Officers, Medical Students, staff of the Diabetic Centre, Nursing Officers and Nursing In-Charges, the Principal and Lecturers of the Nursing Training School, Nursing Students, administrative staff, health Assistants, and well-wishers. Approximately 300 participants actively took part in this meaningful initiative.
This walk served as an effective platform to promote awareness on healthy living, disease prevention, and the importance of adopting positive lifestyle habits.
