How far can determination, curiosity, and a passion for research take you?

Join us as we welcome Eng. Dilshara Herath, Senior Alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering - University of Ruhuna, who has achieved an extraordinary milestone on his academic journey.

🎓 A First Class graduate in B.Sc. Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Ruhuna, he is currently a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, conducting research in Computer Vision and Mathematical Modeling.

🌍 He has made history as the first engineering graduate from a Sri Lankan university to secure direct PhD admission to Columbia University, New York, with the prestigious Presidential Fellowship—an award presented to fewer than 4% of international applicants worldwide.

🏆 Ranked #20 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, Columbia University is among the world's leading institutions, making this achievement even more remarkable.
