Awareness Session Conducted on Christianity and Catholic Church for Diriya Matha Women's Society

OSANAGODA, SRI LANKA — August 25, 2026 — Under the framework of the Mosvold (MMF) Project, an awareness session on Christianity and the Catholic Church was held in conjunction with the Diriya Matha Women's Society Day in Osanagoda. The program aimed to foster community understanding, religious awareness, and social cohesion among local members.

The session engaged 15 participants (14 females and 1 male). Key local stakeholders and project officers supported the initiative, including Grama Niladhari Mrs. Naotunna from the Four Gravets, Divisional Secretariat. PASHUWAIDYAWATTA, SRI LANKA — August 25, 2025 — Under the framework of the Mosvold (MMF) Project, a music programme aimed at promoting the mental health development of children was conducted for the Nelum Children's Society in Pashuwaidyawatta. The creative initiative was designed to support youth emotional well-being, personal development, and peer engagement through therapeutic musical exercises.

The session brought together 25 young participants, comprising 14 males and 11 females. Technical facilitation was provided by musician Mr. Rushmore Ferdinandsz, who guided the children through interactive music-based activities. The programme was coordinated by Project Coordinator Ms. K. P. N. Kumari, with operational and field support provided by project volunteer Laksh*tha Maduwanthi.

Caritas SED Galle Conducts Dual-Session Workshop to Establish Community-Based Seed Storage in Angunakolapelessa

ANGUNAKOLAPELESSA, SRI LANKA — August 10, 2026 — Under the framework of the Food Security Project, a specialized workshop aimed at developing a mechanism for community-based seed storage was successfully conducted for Community-Based Organization (CBO) members in Julamulla and Thalamporuwa. The initiative brought together a total of 49 participants, including 46 females and 3 males, to enhance seed sovereignty, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and ensure local seed preservation.

To effectively serve the local CBO networks, the program was executed across two distinct sessions: a morning session held in Julamulla and an evening session in Thalamporuwa.

The sessions were facilitated by project Agronomist Mr. Gunawardana, who provided technical guidance on seed selection, treatment, and long-term storage methods adapted for home-gardening resilience. Operational coordination and field implementation were carried out by Field Officer Mr. A.J. Chandrasena, supported by project volunteer Mrs. Wasana.

ANGUNAKOLAPELESSA, SRI LANKA — August 13, 2026 — Under the framework of the Food Security Project, an awareness session aimed at promoting land literacy and legal awareness was successfully conducted for Community-Based Organization (CBO) members in Julamulla and Thalamporuwa, located in Angunakolapelessa. The initiative brought together a total of 46 participants, all of whom were women, to enhance grassroots knowledge regarding land rights and legal regulations.

The training was facilitated by Mrs. Niluka Priyadarshani, Land Officer from the Mahaweli Authority of Angunakolapelessa, who served as the primary resource person. She provided essential guidance on land ownership rights, legal procedures, and proper documentation to help empower local female farmers and secure their land tenure. OSANAGODA, SRI LANKA — August 14, 2026 — Under the framework of the Mosvold (MMF) Project, a monthly meeting paired with an awareness programme was conducted for the Dilenatharu Children Group in Osanagoda. Organized under the theme "A Healthy Life, A Tomorrow Free from Drugs," the initiative focused on educating young participants on substance abuse prevention and promoting healthy lifestyle practices.

The programme brought together 32 participants, comprising 15 males and 17 females. Technical guidance and awareness were delivered by Mrs. Ruwani Dommanige, Drug Prevention Officer from the Divisional Secretariat of Galle. The activity was coordinated by Project Coordinator Mrs. K.
