The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch is proud to continue its commitment to protecting communities through the ongoing Dengue Prevention Programme, implemented in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) – Galle.

With the invaluable support of the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme, this initiative has now expanded into a larger-scale community campaign, bringing together government institutions, volunteers, local authorities, and community members to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, raise awareness, and promote a cleaner, healthier environment.

Together, we believe that dengue prevention is everyone's responsibility. Every cleaned environment, every informed family, and every volunteer effort brings us one step closer to a safer and healthier Sri Lanka.

⏱️ Break the Cycle
A mosquito can develop from an egg into an adult in just 7–10 days. The easiest time to stop dengue transmission is during the mosquito’s breeding stage.

🏡 Spend 30 Minutes Every Week
Check your home and surroundings regularly. Responsibly remove standing water from tyres, coconut shells, cans, and other containers. Keep water storage containers properly covered.

🩺 Know the Warning Signs
If you or a loved one experiences a high fever, severe headache, body aches, or persistent vomiting, seek medical attention immediately. Extra caution is vital for children, the elderly, and pregnant individuals.

🌊♻️ Beach Cleaning Campaign 2026 ♻️🌊

With a strong commitment to protecting our coastal environment and promoting humanitarian values, the Youth Committee of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch successfully conducted a Beach Cleaning Campaign covering the coastal stretch from Dadella to Mahamodara.

This initiative brought together dedicated Red Cross youth volunteers who worked tirelessly to remove plastic waste and other marine debris, contributing to a cleaner and healthier coastline for both the community and marine life. The campaign also aimed to raise public awareness on the importance of responsible waste disposal and environmental conservation.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all Youth Committee members, volunteers, and everyone who supported this meaningful initiative. Together, we can preserve the beauty of our beaches and build a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

🌿 Community Cleanup Campaign – Opatha Community

Continuing our commitment to creating healthier communities through the Dengue Prevention DREF Project, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch, in collaboration with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) – Galle, successfully conducted a Community Cleanup Campaign in Opatha Community.

The programme was carried out under the guidance of Public Health Inspector Mr. K. G. R. Lakshan. We were pleased to have the participation and support of Hony. Branch Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch, Mr. Upali Sirimanne, Chairman of Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Deshan, Member of Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Yasantha Sameera, and Community Mobilizer of the DREF Project, Mr. Sameera Sudarshana. We also sincerely appreciate the valuable contribution of Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha towards the success of this community initiative.

The campaign focused on eliminating mosquito breeding sites, improving environmental cleanliness, and increasing public awareness on dengue prevention. We extend our gratitude to the residents of Opatha for actively joining this humanitarian effort.

🧹 **School Cleanup Campaign – Opatha Maha Vidyalaya**

As part of the ongoing **Dengue Prevention DREF Project**, implemented by the **Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch** in collaboration with the **Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) – Galle**, a successful **School Cleanup Campaign** was conducted at **Opatha Maha Vidyalaya**.

The programme was conducted under the valuable guidance of **Public Health Inspector Mr. K. G. R. Lakshan**. We were honored by the participation and support of **Hony. Branch Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Galle Branch, Mr. Upali Sirimanne**, **Chairman of Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Deshan**, **Member of Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Yasantha Sameera**, and **Community Mobilizer of the Dengue - DREF Project, Mr. Sameera Sudarshana**. The contribution of **Thawalama Pradeshiya Sabha** was instrumental in the successful implementation of this initiative.
