We know this isn’t the news many were hoping for, and trust us, we feel the same.

The 2026 edition of the Galle Literary Festival will be postponed as we take time to review and strengthen our organisational structure to secure a sustainable path forward.

Since 2007, GLF has celebrated stories, ideas, and creative exchange, and this pause will help us continue doing just that with renewed purpose.

We remain committed to bringing together readers, writers, and thinkers and we look forward to returning in 2027 with fresh energy and ideas.

Across oceans and generations, stories find their way home. 🌊

From Barbados-born opera singer and artist Peter Brathwaite, who reimagines forgotten histories through performance and portraiture, to Sri Lankan–Koryo Saram writer romesh dissanayake, whose words trace identity, migration, and the flavours of belonging — both bridge worlds through art that listens as much as it speaks.

Islands have a way of shaping stories, of giving them rhythm, heat, and heart. 🌴

From Trinidad and Tobago’s Claire Adam, whose novels Golden Child and Love Forms explore family and fate, to Mauritius’s Priya Hein, who writes of home, resilience, and belonging in Riambel and Tamarin, and Hong Kong’s Dorothy Tse, whose surreal worlds twist reality into dream — these voices remind us that islands hold vast worlds within them.

When Tom Parker Bowles describes something as “magical,” we’ll happily take it — but maybe it’s because Galle has a way of casting spells. 🌊

It’s the stories told under sun-bleached skies, the late-night laughter, and the feeling that you’ve stepped into a book you don’t want to end. 📖✨

Cobblestone lanes, sea breeze, and stories at every corner. 🌴

From the scent of salt in the air to the chatter spilling out of cafés — this is Galle, where past and present walk side by side.

A place where every wall has a tale, every turn a new adventure and come January, it all comes alive once more. ✨

The countdown to GLF 2026 has begun — what are you most looking forward to? 👀
