This , we recognize the exceptional commitment of Radika Gunaratne, an Attorney-at-Law and certified Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) trainer with over a decade of experience advancing gender justice and strengthening responses to sexual and gender-based violence in Sri Lanka.

Through her work supporting women and marginalized communities, and by building the capacities of justice sector institutions through training and advocacy, including under UNDP-supported initiatives such as the Support to Justice Sector Project (JURE), funded by the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF Sri Lanka, Radika contributes to creating more inclusive and responsive legal systems. Her published work on gender justice, SGBV, land rights and economic justice reflect her dedication to structural reform and legal empowerment.

As the Founder and Executive Director of PARIVARTAN, an intersectional feminist organization working to mainstream gender justice, Radika demonstrates how visionary leadership, collaboration and resilience can challenge discrimination and inspire young women to pursue justice-driven change in their communities.

ගැමිකාන්තා පෙරමුණ මෙවර කාන්තා දිනය සැමරුවේ
මාර්තු 27 වන දින ගාල්ල හසාරා උත්සව ශාලාවේදී ය. මෙම සමරු උළෙල මෙතෙක් පැවැත්වූ කාන්තා දින වලට සාපේක්ෂව වෙනස් මුහුණුවරක් ගනු ලැබිණි. මෙම උළෙලේ මෙහෙයවීමේ කටයුතු කරන ලද්දේ නිසංසලා ගමගේ ය.
ආරම්භයේ, මෙතෙක් කාන්තා අයිතීන් වෙනුවෙන් ජීවිත කැපකළාවූද, සුවිශේෂ මෙහෙවරක් කළාවූද, කාන්තා නායකත්වය සිිිිිහිකරමින් සහ මේ වන විට මුළු ලෝකයටම බලපාන යුද්ධය හේතුවෙන් බියෙන් තැති ගැනීමෙන් ජීවත් වන සමස්ථ ජනයා වෙනුවෙන්ද විශේෂයෙන් පීඩාවට පත්ව සිටින කාන්තාවන් සහ ගැහැණු දරුවන් සිහිපත් කරමින් ද පහන් දල්වන ලදි. ඉන් අනතුරුව ශ්‍රියානි පතිරගේ විසින්, "ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය අපට විශේෂ වන්නේ ඇයි?" යනුවෙන් කෙටි පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් කළ අතර, ආරාධිත දේශනය යෙදී තිබුණේ "වත්මන් කාන්තාවන් මුහුණදෙන අභියෝග" පිළිබඳ අදහස් දැක්වීමට රුහුණු විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ බාහිර කථිකාචාර්යවරියක වන සුදර්ශනී දමුණුපොල මහත්මියටය.

මෙම සමරු උළෙලේ විශේෂාංගය වූයේ, ගැමි කාන්තා පෙරමුණේ, ස්ත්‍රීවාදී ප්‍රවේශයකින් ආරම්භ කරනු ලැබූ, 'සුළඟ' සංස්කෘතික කණ්ඩායමේ, 'කදුළට විරාමයක් දෙන්න කාලය ඇවිත්' යනුවෙන් නිර්මාණය කරන ලද, නාට්‍ය දැක්මයි.

මෙහි විශේෂත්වය වූයේ, නාට්‍ය තිර පිටපත ලියන ලද්දේ, සුළඟ නාට්‍ය කණ්ඩායම නියෝජනය කරන තරුණ දක්ෂ නිර්මාණ කරුවෙකු වූ තරුෂ හිම්සර වීමය. ඔහු නැගී එන ලාබාළ තරුණ කලාකරුවෙකි. එමෙන්ම ඔහු දකුණු පළාත් රාජ්‍ය නාට්‍ය කණ්ඩායමේ නාට්‍ය ශිල්පියෙක් ලෙස ද තේරී පත් වී ඇත.

මෙම නාට්‍ය සන්දර්භය ගත් කළ, ඉතිහාසය පුරා අයුක්තියට, අසාධාරණයට ලක් වූ මනමේ කුමරිය, සුප්පාදේවිය සහ ඇහැළේපොල කුමාරිහාමි යන චරිත ඇතුළත් වූ අතර, වර්තමානයේ පීඩනයට පත් කාන්තා චරිතයක්ද නිරූපණය කර තිබුණි .

නාට්‍ය අවසන දෙන ලද පණිවිඩය, අපගේ අරමුණු සඵල කරවන සුළු කතිකාවකට ඇරයුම් කරන්නක් වීම මෙහිලා විශේෂත්වය විය.

නාට්‍ය අවසන මණ්ඩප සාකච්ඡාව මෙහෙයවන ලද්දේ, ස්ත්‍රීවාදී දෘෂ්ටියකින් වැඩසටහන් මෙහෙයවන වියත් රාජ්‍ය නිළධාරිණියක වන ගාල්ල කඩවත් සතර වනිතා සංවර්ධන නිළධාරිණී, කාංචනා මාපලගම මහත්මියයි.

මණ්ඩප සාකච්ඡාවට, ගැමි කාන්තා පෙරමුණ විධායක අධ්‍යක්ෂිකා ශ්‍රියානි පතිරගේ,
ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජභාවය පිළිබඳ විශේෂඥ පුහුණු උපදේශිකා ප්‍රේමා ගමගේ, ජ්‍යේෂ්ඨ මාධ්‍යවේදීනී විනිතා එම්. ගමගේ, ගැමි කාන්තා පෙරමුණ සභාපති එම්.එච්.නස්මියා, ගැමි කාන්තා පෙරමුණ ලේකම් චන්දිමා කන්දගේ ඇතුළත් වූහ.

සහභාගිකයන් ද සම්බන්ධ කොටගෙන මෙම සාකච්ඡාව ගලායාමත්, වත්මන් කාන්තාවන් මුහුණ දෙන පොදු පීඩනයට පිළිතුරක් සෙවීමට නම් සමාජ කොටස්කරුවන් වන පුරුෂ පාර්ශවයද මීට සම්බන්ධ කරගත යුතු බවත් අවසාන පණිවිඩය විය.

The success of the IWD 2026 event, organized by the Police Women and Children's Desks across the Galle district, stands as a powerful testament to RWF's sustained efforts to sensitize stakeholders on women's issues. It was a distinct honor for RWF, led by Executive Director Ms. Sriyani Pathirage, to be the only civil society organization in the distrcit, invited to the ceremony.

Today marks an important milestone for the Rural Women’s Front (RWF) as we officially opened the Community Legal Support Unit (CLSU).

The CLSU is established to provide accessible legal information, guidance, and referral support for women and marginalized communities who face barriers in accessing justice. Through this unit, we aim to strengthen community awareness on legal rights, support victims of violence and discrimination, and connect them with relevant legal and social services.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to empowering communities, promoting justice, and ensuring that no one is left without support when seeking their rights.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who supported and stood with us to make this initiative a reality. Together, we move forward to build safer and more just communities.

ජාත්‍යන්තර කාන්තා දිනය උදාවන්න⁣ට ඇත්තේ තවත් පැය කිහිපයක් පමණි. සුවිශේෂී දිනයක් ගැන නොසිතා හැමදාමත් දුක්විඳින කාන්තාවන් වෙනුවෙන් කැපවූ කාන්තා නායිකාවන් කිහිප දෙනෙකු මෙවර කාන්තා දිනයේ දී සම්මානයෙන් පුදන්නට ශ්‍රී ලංකා පළාත් පාලන ආයතන සම්මේලනය පියවර ගෙන තිබිණි.
එහිදී රාජ්‍ය නොවන සංවිධාන වල ක්‍රියාධරයින් වෙනුවෙන් ද සම්මාන දෙකක් පිදිණි. ඒ කුරුණෑගල සුමිකා පෙරේරාට සහ ගාල්ලේ
ගැම් කාන්තා පෙරමුණේ විධායක අධ්‍යක්ෂිකා ශ්‍රියානි පතිරගේ ටය. ගැමි කාන්තා පෙරමුණේ නිර්මාතෘවරිය ද වන ඇය
1987 පටන් ග්‍රාමිය කාන්තාවන් ගේ ජීවිත නගා සිටුවීම වෙනුවෙන් කැපව කටයුතු කලාය. පමා වී හෝ ජාතක මට්ටමෙන් ඇයව අගය කිරීම සතුටට කරුණකි. එවන් සම්මානයකට ඇය සුදුසුකම් ඕනැවටත් වඩා සපුරා ඇතැයි සිතෙයි. ඇයට ⁣අපේ සුභපැතුම්.

🌟 A Proud Moment for Rural Women’s Front 🌟

Today marks a truly proud and inspiring moment for all of us at Rural Women’s Front (RWF). Our Executive Director and Founder, Ms. Sriyani Pathirage, was honored with the Abhimani Award by the Federation of Sri Lankan Local Government Authorities. The award ceremony was held on 7th March 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
Neraly three decades, Ms. Sriyani Pathirage has dedicated her life to advocating for women’s rights, dignity, and justice. Her courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to standing with marginalized women have created meaningful change in many communities across Sri Lanka. Through her leadership, Rural Women’s Front continues to empower rural women, support survivors of violence, and promote equality and social justice.

This recognition celebrates not only her personal journey but also the collective struggle for women’s rights and social justice that she has championed throughout her life. Her work inspires all of us to continue building communities that are more equitable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of women and marginalized groups.
