Alliance Development Trust Alliance Development Trust (ADT) is the relief and development arm of the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL).

ADT facilitates community-based programmes and social welfare programmes in order to improve the quality of life for victims of war and natural disasters, socially marginalised groups such as HIV and AIDS infected and affected persons, those living with Leprosy and other vulnerable persons including women and children. ADT implements its projects through structured and integrated programme sectors

under the broad categories of Humanitarian Aid and Community Development. ADT is committed to international standards of good practice and conduct and its response will conform to such recognised standards such as the Sphere code of conduct and People in Aid.

UNCOVER Photography Exhibition: Giving voice to the untold stories of communities affected by injustice through visual storytelling and dialogue.
The exhibition organised by the ACT NOW Campaign of ADT & NCEASL, took place from 16–20 July 2026 at the JDA Perera Gallery, Colombo.
The opening on the 16th featured a keynote address by Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, Founder & Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA), followed by a panel discussion titled “Can Sri Lanka’s Future Be Built on Unanswered Grief & Unresolved Injustice?” The discussion explored the impact of unresolved human rights violations & the importance of truth, justice, & accountability in building lasting peace and reconciliation.
On the 17th, a discussion titled “Opportunities & Challenges in Securing Land, Housing, & Other Human Rights of the Malaiyaha Tamil Community” explored systemic barriers affecting the community & pathways towards inclusive, rights-based solutions.
The exhibition concluded with a panel discussion on “Black July: The Unfinished Past,” reflecting on the lasting legacy of the 1983 anti-Tamil pogrom & the importance of addressing historical injustices as part of a genuine process of reconciliation.
The exhibition was also honoured by visits from Hon. Sundaralingam Pradeep, Deputy Minister of Plantation & Community Infrastructure, the opposition leader Hon. Sajith Premadasa & Dr. Harsha de Silva.

Junior Disaster Management Programme

At a school where we already run a daily mid-day meal programme, ADT partnered with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society – Nuwara Eliya Branch to run a Junior Disaster Management Programme for students and teachers.

63 students and 7 teachers took part, gaining practical skills to stay safe and respond confidently during disasters.

ADT’s Health Sector conducted a training program for Leprosy Self Help Group Leaders from across Sri Lanka on Inner Well-Being & Community Development, with a total attendance of 23 participants.
During this consultation, it was identified that there was a need for a formal constitution to guide and strengthen their groups, recognizing its importance in establishing a clear framework for governance, decision making, accountability, and sustainable future development.

With the support of Sasakawa Health Foundation, ADT organized a training workshop in Galle District for over 60 interfaith leaders, aimed at combatting leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.

Through a series of engaging sessions, participants explored faith-based messaging and advocacy, gained evidence-based knowledge about leprosy, and addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding the disease. The workshop also provided a platform for open dialogue with self-help group members and collaborative action planning to strengthen district-level interventions and promote more inclusive communities.

ADT celebrates the power of ‘dialogue’ in fostering peace, inclusion, and mutual understanding.
As Sri Lanka continues its journey toward economic recovery and social resilience, *dialogue remains one of the most powerful tools for promoting peace, reducing discrimination, strengthening social cohesion, and ensuring that no one is left behind.*

Under the Peace-building Fund-supported project, “Social Dialogue for Peace and Crisis Prevention in Sri Lanka,” implemented by ILO, UNFPA, UNESCO, and ADT, inclusive dialogue has strengthened trust, amplified community voices, and enhanced engagement between citizens and decision-makers were witnessed.

Between November 2025 and March 2026, ADT facilitated Community and Joint Advocacy Dialogues across Batticaloa, Jaffna, Badulla, and Gampaha, enabling women, youth, and vulnerable groups to discuss livelihood, social cohesion, gender, and SRHR issues while identifying shared solutions for resilient communities and also contributing to policies.

As part of ADT’s Women of Wealth (WOW) project, implemented in partnership with CISU, a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) was conducted in the Kalkuda GN Division, bringing together 30 participants, including community members, village society representatives, and officers from the GN, Industrial, and Development sectors.

The PRA created a platform for communities to share their experiences, identify local needs, and contribute to shaping sustainable development initiatives that empower women and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Together, ADT, in partnership with CISU, is amplifying voices, fostering inclusion, and building pathways to prosperity for women in rural communities.

Months may have passed since Cyclone Ditwah made landfall, but for many low-income families the recovery is far from over.

Our Recovery Support Programme recently reached 50 children from the Maritimepattu Division, Mullaitivu, providing school bags, stationery, and dry rations to help rebuild their everyday lives.

The programme was inaugurated by the Government Child Rights Protection Officer (CRPO), who highlighted the importance of children’s education and well-being. Carried out in coordination with relevant government stakeholders in Mullaitivu, this intervention provided valuable support for the educational and nutritional needs of children in a district still facing significant economic challenges. #

A joint advocacy dialogue was conducted bringing together local government stakeholders and community leaders from the Negombo and Wattala DS Divisions. The session was facilitated by Sarah Arumugam and attended by the District Secretary of Gampaha, the Divisional Secretaries of Negombo and Wattala, representatives from local government institutions, officials from the Fisheries Department, the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), the Medical Officer of Health in Negombo, and officials from the Department of Labour. UNFPA Representative a.i. Sri Lanka and Country Director a.i. Maldives, Mr. Phuntsho Wangyel, and UNFPA Gender Programme Analyst, Ms. Bimali Amarasekera, also attended the meeting.

During the dialogue, trained community leaders engaged directly with officials on key issues affecting social cohesion, SRHR, gender equality, and fisheries-based livelihoods in the two divisions. The discussion created an opportunity for participants to raise concerns, exchange perspectives, and explore inclusive and practical solutions to strengthen sustainable livelihoods and community well-being.

This initiative was supported by the Joint UN Peacebuilding Project implemented by ILO, UNFPA, and UNESCO under the UNFPA-funded project “Social Dialogue for Peace and Crisis Prevention in Sri Lanka.
