Mit großer Trauer nehmen wir Abschied von Pastor Sam Rajasuriar, der am vergangenen Sonntagabend verstorben ist. 🖤

Gemeinsam mit Wolfgang Groß gründete er humedica Lanka und baute eine Schule in der Stadt Jaffna auf. Besonders während des Bürgerkriegs in Sri Lanka und nach dem Tsunami 2004 setzte er sich unter hohem persönlichem Risiko unermüdlich für geflüchtete Menschen ein und initiierte zahlreiche Hilfsprogramme. Wir blicken mit großer Dankbarkeit und Respekt auf sein Lebenswerk zurück. 🙏

Unser Mitgefühl gilt der Familie und allen, die mit Pastor Sam verbunden waren.

Humedica Lanka - Ditwah response 2025

Last week, Humedica Lanka visited the Uva province, specifically the Badulla district, with essential medicines for first aid. We provided medicines to ten locations, including Gonakale, Medarapitiya, and Kandaketiya.

We would like to note that all these activities were carried out in coordination with and under the approval of the regional disaster management centers.

As the next step in the recovery process, our goal is to implement programs to improve the mental health and psychosocial well being of those affected directly and indirectly from this disaster.

We take this opportunity to thank all parties who have supported and contributed to our efforts so far.

හියුමෙඩිකා ලංකා - දිට්වා ක්‍රියාන්විතය 2025

පසුගිය සතිය ඇතුළත හියුමෙඩිකා අපි ප්‍රථමාධාර වලට අවශ්‍ය බෙහෙත් සමග ඌව පළාතේ බදුල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයට ගියා. අපි ගෝණකැලේ, මැදරාපිටිය සහ කන්දකැටිය ඇතුළුව ස්ථාන දහයකට ප්‍රථමාධාර වලට අවශ්‍ය බෙහෙත් ලබාදීමට කටයුතු කලා. මේ සියලුම කර්තව්‍ය්යන් ප්‍රාදේශීය ආපදා කලමනාකරන මධ්‍යස්ථාන හා සම්බන්ධ වී ඔවුන්ගේ අනුදැනුම යටතේ සිදුකරන ලද බව විශේෂයෙන් සදහන් කල යුතුයි.

යථාතත්වයට පත්වීමේ මීලග පියවර වශයෙන් අපගේ අරමුණ විපතට පත්වූවන් සහ ඒ ආශ්‍රිත පිරිසගේ මානසික සෞඛ්‍ය වැඩිදියුණු කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය වන වැඩසටහන් දියත් කිරීමටයි.

මේ තාක් දුරට අප හා සම්බන්ධ වී උපකාර කල සියලුම පාර්ශ්ව වලට මේ අවස්ථාවේදී ස්තූතිය පළකරමු. !

We at have been assessing the situation in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwa. In low land areas such as Sithawaka and Kolonnawa, people continue to move toward shelters run by both the government and public. Damage to peoples' homes and public property is immeasurable. Currently the government has deployed air and land support to rescue people trapped in their homes but essential equipment such as boats, boots, ropes and chainsaws are lacking in most places and demand surpasses the supply.
Hot food and water is being provided by the government through all Divisional Secretariats.
What people will require support is with nonfood items and then returning to their places of habitat.
Humedica Lanka will be supporting effected populations in the Northern and Western Provinces through the provision of NFIs once exact needs are shared by the centers.
We hope to also support our communities in the Uva province remotely (through our volunteers) as soon as access is granted.

Our Story

Registered as a Non-Government Organization, its aim is to support Sri-Lankan people in need with directed and sustainable aid. Based in Colombo, Jaffna and Hatton the different aid projects range from disaster relief after floods and landslides to longterm support such as Learning Centers, a Preschool and Mobile Clincs.

Our Mission:

humedica Lanka is an organisation that works with those who have been affected through natural and man made disasters. We have a mixed group of staffers who are passionate in what they do. Disaster does not inform us it strikes suddenly. Therefore we bring awareness to communities to be aware of such so that we can reduce the risk and lessen the effects of disaster. Our desire is to raise support as much as possible from within so that in case funds do stop one day our work for the poor and needy does not have to end.
