Hello everyone,
Last year, Apeksha Hospital didn’t allow us to give soft toys (even new ones) to the children, as carrying them around posed an infection risk. In previous years, this had been permitted.
We had over 100 gently used and carefully washed soft toys collected and sent by Ayoni and Nishantha, as well as another 50 brand-new ones purchased by Gayani to give away at Apeksha.
Since we couldn’t gift them there, we shared the new toys with children at the Mother Theresa Home and Kildare Girls’ Home last December.
The remaining ones were gifted to children at three orphanages in Pothuvil, near Arugam Bay.
Sharing some heartwarming pictures of the happy faces of these little ones 😊
A lovely reminder of how a small act of kindness can bring so much joy to an innocent child. We hope this inspires you to collect and send us your children’s gently used soft toys ❤️

Hi everyone 😊
We’re delighted to share an update on our final project for 2025, the renovation of the Kildare Girls Home in Kalutara, which we completed and handed over last December.

Kildare Girls Home was originally built by an Irish family after the 2004 tsunami (alongside the Arklow Boys Home in Katana, which we renovated in 2022). It currently houses 23 girls and is managed by the Sisters of the Holy Angels’ Order.

As part of the renovation, we repaired ceilings, toilets, and beds; replaced all broken doors with mahogany ones; installed new taps, showers, and fans; and painted the entire building.
We also created a new outdoor play area from an unused garden patch a first for the home, giving the children a joyful space to play and unwind.

This renovation was fully sponsored by Uthpala and her family from Australia, in loving memory of their parents. We were honoured to have them with us for the soft opening on December 29th. Their generosity helped transform the home into a bright, comfortable and welcoming place for the girls. New bedsheets, pillowcases, and freshly painted dorms now give the home a refreshed look and the children were thrilled with their gifts and toys 😊❤️

With this project, we successfully completed nine initiatives in 2025, at a total cost of approximately LKR 12 million. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by us throughout the year giving, supporting, and encouraging us along the way. Your kindness continues to make a difference. ❤️🙏

🌟 Project Completed! – Palpola Junior School, Galpaatha/Kalutara 🌟We’re thrilled to share that our work at Palpola Junior School is finally complete! 🎉
This project included building a new canteen, renovating classrooms, setting up book corners for Grades 1–5 with 525+ brand-new books, and providing musical instruments and band costumes for all 26 members of the school band.
We also created a new outdoor classroom and refreshed the existing one with a fresh coat of paint.
A heartfelt thanks to the Sri Lanka Society UK and other generous contributors for funding the canteen, band, and classroom projects.
Big Thank you to Mahesh for the incredible support and coordination especially through the long approval process!
We had a lovely soft opening with Mary Anne Costain from the Sri Lankan Society UK, complete with fun and snacks for the kids.
💕Here are some photos from this wonderful milestone! 📸

Today, we came together at Dimbulagala Vidyalaya in Galgamuwa for a large-scale distribution of essential items to our local community.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide:
School books for 475 children from four schools and 200 children from four orphanages.
Dry rations for 450 families across 15 villages.
Lunch for 1,200 individuals who joined us today.
Here are some moments from behind the scenes, with photos captured during the preparation for this special event, showing the hard work and heart that went into making today possible.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, shared, or supported in any way to make this event a reality. Your kindness is making a real difference in the lives of these children and families. 😊❤️🙏🏽

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! ❤️☺️🌸🎉

Hello everyone,
Hope you and your families are staying safe.
Ehatuwewa, Atharagalla, and Galgamuwa areas where we have been working for the past two years are completely submerged due to the overflowing of the Ehatu Wewa and Ambakola tanks. The villagers have been relocated to nearby schools, where they are currently being supported by the Divisional Secretariat. Cooked meals and immediate relief are being provided to them.
Most of the affected families rely on farming or daily-wage labour, and they have now completely lost their livelihoods as a result of the floods.
Once these families are able to return to their homes, we hope to extend further support by providing each household with a bag of dry-rations. In addition, we plan to get school supplies as per the Government booklist to 415 children from 3 schools we have identified in the area.
Please do share with your friends and families overseas as well so we can do our best to help these families get back on their feet.
Thank you for your generous support and help❤️

Hi everyone,
November 22nd marks a very special milestone for the Butterfly Hope Foundation, it is our 5th anniversary. To celebrate, we will continue our cherished tradition of visiting the paediatric wards and paediatric ICU at Apeksha Hospital.
This year, we’re bringing smiles through magic shows, gifts for each child, and care packages that include toiletries and tea supplies for each parent or caregiver. In addition we will be donating essential medicines.
With your support, we can bring comfort, hope, and a little bit of joy to these brave children and their families. Together, let’s make this anniversary truly meaningful ❤️🙏🏽

Hi everyone,
We began work at Palpola Kanishta Vidyalaya in Galpaatha in June. So far, we’ve completed school repairs, set up outdoor classrooms, painted existing ones, developed part of the play area, and provided musical instruments and costumes for the 26-member western band.
Our biggest project has been building a small canteen, as the school had no sheltered place to serve food. Approvals and technical delays made this task much harder and expensive than expected, but we’re pushing through because our priority remains the well-being of the children.
The school also needs reading corners for grades 1–5 since younger children don’t have access to suitable books.
This project has far exceeded our budget due to unexpected costs and added needs. The children here come from extremely vulnerable backgrounds, and even small contributions can make a real difference in their education and daily lives.
We need your support to complete this project. Thank you for helping us continue this work! 🙏🏽❤️

See attached some pictures on the progress so far.
