Hello everyone,
We successfully completed our largest project to date in Walapane on the 4th of April 2026, raising LKR 8.5 million in under two months thanks to incredible generosity from our donors and supporters.

With your help, we provided:
School supplies, shoes, slippers, and T-shirts for 534 children across 3 schools
A month’s supply of dry rations for 750 vulnerable families

This project would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of Mr Jayaratne, our Board members, donors, corporate partners, and every individual who contributed financially and through hands-on support.
From packing hundreds of school bags to travelling long distances to deliver them, this was truly a collective effort driven by compassion and commitment.
We are deeply grateful to each of you for making a meaningful difference in the lives of these children and families. Thank you for your kindness and generosity ❤️

We’ve already ordered their shoes, slippers, and T-shirts, and hope to complete everything for distribution on Saturday, April 4th.

Hello everyone 😊
We began 2026 with a major project to provide school supplies to 470 children from four schools in Galgamuwa/Ehatuwewa near Kurunegala.
The distribution took place on January 17th in Kurunegala, where we enjoyed a lively morning with dance, song, and a little magic. We also hosted a grand lunch of yellow rice, fried chicken, dhal, cutlets, mango chutney, fried eggs, and papadam for over 1,000 children, parents, and teachers.
The remaining funds provided dry rations worth Rs. 5,000 each to 450 cyclone-affected families across 15 villages—mostly daily wage earners and single-parent homes who were deeply grateful for your kindness.
Heartfelt thanks to Prabath and Mohan from Bodyline, who once again led this effort with their team of chefs. Also a huge thanks to everyone who helped pack the bags over three busy days! Finally, a special thanks to Kanch and Rain for joining us in Kurunegala and helping on the day 🙏🏽❤️

Hello everyone,
When Butterfly Hope Foundation was founded in 2020, our first project helped villagers in Nildandahinna, Walapane. This is one of the poorest areas in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, reachable only after a 2.5-hour walk.
Since then, we’ve supported them with dry rations after crop losses and provided school supplies for children.
We also built our first library and IT facility at Sudharashanaramaya Temple, now used by over 500 Dhamma school students every Sunday.
Sadly, the village has been devastated by recent cyclone and floods, lives lost, homes destroyed, and livelihoods wiped out. The community has reached out to us again for help.

This time, we aim to:

Food Support
• Provide dry rations for 750 families (funds for 500 secured; support needed for 250 more).

Educational and Clothing Supplies for Children
• Supply 525 children with school materials, shoes, slippers, and clothing.

Distribution Timeline and Goal
• We plan to visit and distribute these items in early April, before Avurudu, so families can celebrate the New Year with some comfort.

Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference. Thank you, as always, for your kindness and continued support ❤️

Hello everyone,
Last year, Apeksha Hospital didn’t allow us to give soft toys (even new ones) to the children, as carrying them around posed an infection risk. In previous years, this had been permitted.
We had over 100 gently used and carefully washed soft toys collected and sent by Ayoni and Nishantha, as well as another 50 brand-new ones purchased by Gayani to give away at Apeksha.
Since we couldn’t gift them there, we shared the new toys with children at the Mother Theresa Home and Kildare Girls’ Home last December.
The remaining ones were gifted to children at three orphanages in Pothuvil, near Arugam Bay.

Hi everyone 😊
We’re delighted to share an update on our final project for 2025, the renovation of the Kildare Girls Home in Kalutara, which we completed and handed over last December.

Kildare Girls Home was originally built by an Irish family after the 2004 tsunami (alongside the Arklow Boys Home in Katana, which we renovated in 2022). It currently houses 23 girls and is managed by the Sisters of the Holy Angels’ Order.

As part of the renovation, we repaired ceilings, toilets, and beds; replaced all broken doors with mahogany ones; installed new taps, showers, and fans; and painted the entire building.
We also created a new outdoor play area from an unused garden patch a first for the home, giving the children a joyful space to play and unwind.

This renovation was fully sponsored by Uthpala and her family from Australia, in loving memory of their parents. We were honoured to have them with us for the soft opening on December 29th. Their generosity helped transform the home into a bright, comfortable and welcoming place for the girls. New bedsheets, pillowcases, and freshly painted dorms now give the home a refreshed look and the children were thrilled with their gifts and toys 😊❤️

With this project, we successfully completed nine initiatives in 2025, at a total cost of approximately LKR 12 million.We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by us throughout the year giving, supporting, and encouraging us along the way. Your kindness continues to make a difference. ❤️🙏

🌟 Project Completed! – Palpola Junior School, Galpaatha/Kalutara 🌟We’re thrilled to share that our work at Palpola Junior School is finally complete! 🎉
This project included building a new canteen, renovating classrooms, setting up book corners for Grades 1–5 with 525+ brand-new books, and providing musical instruments and band costumes for all 26 members of the school band.
We also created a new outdoor classroom and refreshed the existing one with a fresh coat of paint.
A heartfelt thanks to the Sri Lanka Society UK and other generous contributors for funding the canteen, band, and classroom projects.
Big Thank you to Mahesh for the incredible support and coordination especially through the long approval process!
We had a lovely soft opening with Mary Anne Costain from the Sri Lankan Society UK, complete with fun and snacks for the kids.
