UPDATE: A Miracle Completed

Because of your compassion, the Kind Hearted Lankans community came together and raised sufficient funds for Siththi Faiza, the 48 year old warrior from Hambanthota who has been bravely fighting mouth cancer with the steadfast love of her 64 year old mother.

Today, we are overjoyed to share that their dream has come true, their home is complete.

This isn’t just a roof and four walls. It’s a sanctuary where Siththi can rest with dignity, where her mother can breathe easier knowing they are safe and sheltered. What began as a humble request for help has blossomed into a story of resilience, compassion, and community. Together, we didn’t just build a house, we built hope.

Help Bandula Take His First Step Towards Independence

Bandula Ajith Premasiri is a 52-year-old three-wheeler driver from Polgahawela. For years, he worked tirelessly to support himself and his mother, being the sole breadwinner with the income he earned through his humble profession.

But his life took a devastating turn recently. Bandula was hospitalized with a severe infection. He fell into a coma for 8 long days, fighting for his life. When he finally regained consciousness, everything had changed.

Doctors had no choice but to amputate one leg below the knee and the other at the hip joint in order to save him. In a single moment, Bandula lost not only his legs but also his livelihood, his independence and his only means of supporting his mother.

Today, he is confined to bed, completely dependent on his elderly mother, who struggles daily to care for him. With no income, he is unable to afford medicines, treatments, or even basic living expenses. On top of the physical pain, Bandula is enduring immense mental distress, feeling helpless and without hope.

Yet, amidst all this suffering, Bandula has one wish, to walk again.

To regain some independence, Bandula inquired about prosthetic limbs. The total cost for both prosthetics is around Rs. 1,000,000/-, an amount far beyond his reach. However, his humble request is for help in funding just one prosthetic for his right leg (which was amputated below the knee). This would at least allow him to stand, move with assistance and hopefully start earning again to work towards funding the other limb. The cost for this prosthetic is approximately Rs. 299,000/-.

Your kindness can give Bandula the chance to stand once more. With just one prosthetic, he can take his first step towards dignity, independence, and the hope of rebuilding his life. What may be a small contribution for you could mean the world to him—a chance to rise from despair, care for his mother again, and believe in tomorrow.

For those who wish to help, Mr Bandula’s bank account details are mentioned above so you can donate directly. Every rupee brings him closer to walking again, and we will be sharing updates on his journey so you can see the difference your generosity has made. Thank you so much.

Over the past few days, we carried out a series of clothing drives in a village in Kuruvita, Ratnapura an effort proudly led by the Kuruwita Police Station. We were also able to donate oxygen regulators to the Ratnapura Hospital and distribute essential items to Isuru Sewana, a safe house under the Department of Probation, Child Care & Social Services.

A heartfelt thank you to Lankan Tucker for making this possible and ensuring these boxes reached us all the way from Australia. Most importantly, these donations found their way to those who truly needed them.

In a world where we can be anything, choosing to be kind is one of the most powerful things we can do, it creates ripples of hope in places we may never even see.

Siththi Faiza, a 48-year-old woman from the small village of Sippikulama in Hambanthota, is facing a battle that no one should have to endure alone. Diagnosed with mouth cancer, Faiza is in desperate need of help, not only with her health, but with her living conditions. She is cared for by her 64-year-old mother, who, despite her own struggles, has been doing everything she can to provide for Faiza. Unfortunately, their home, which should be a place of comfort, has become a place of hardship, no longer safe or suitable for the care Faiza desperately needs.
The situation they face is heartbreaking. With limited financial resources, Faiza and her mother are fighting not only against her condition, but against the harsh realities of living in an unsafe and unfit home. She requires a peaceful and stable environment, one where she can rest and receive proper care. Her mother, though devoted, is aging and can no longer provide the necessary care in these conditions.
Faiza urgently needs a small, secure home where she can begin to heal—both physically and emotionally. A home where the constant worry of their safety and survival will not overshadow her fight against cancer. This is where your compassion can make all the difference.
We urge you to open your hearts to Faiza and her mother. Your support, no matter how small, can give them the chance to experience the dignity and safety they deserve, allowing Faiza the peace she needs to focus on her recovery. Let’s show Faiza that she’s not alone in this fight ❤️ If you’d like to help 👇🏻

***UPDATE***

After much anticipation, Sevin underwent surgery at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital to correct the discrepancy, and we are relieved and happy to share that the surgery was a success. He is now in the process of undergoing physiotherapy to continue his recovery and enhance his mobility, with the hope that this will improve his quality of life moving forward.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who generously donated to Sevin’s medical fund, as well as to those who shared his story and helped raise awareness. Your kindness and support have been invaluable to Sevin and his family during this difficult time. Thank you for helping to give Sevin the chance to lead a better, healthier life.
