From Sri Lanka to Japan: we are cheering you on, Naveed!

The Colombo Friend in Need Society extends its very best wishes to Naveed Raheem, CFINS Ambassador and Sri Lankan Paralympian, as he prepares to represent Sri Lanka at the Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan from 18–24 October 2026.

Naveed continues to be an inspiring example of what determination, discipline and opportunity can make possible. Having represented Sri Lanka at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and the 2025 Para Swimming World Championships, he has already carried the national flag onto some of the world’s biggest para-sport stages. He is also a bronze medallist in the Men’s S9 400m Freestyle at the Asian Para Games, reflecting years of commitment, resilience and hard work.

As a CFINS Ambassador, Naveed represents a message deeply connected to the work we do every day — that disability does not define ability, potential or ambition.

Tonight, Naveed departs for Japan, with his events scheduled for the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of October. We invite everyone to join the CFINS family in wishing him the very best of luck and Godspeed as he takes on this next challenge.

A prosthetic limb can make a world of difference: helping someone regain mobility, independence and confidence.

CFINS warmly thanks the District Grand Lodge of Sri Lanka’s Board of Benevolence for its generous donation of 10 prosthetic limbs on 30 September 2026.

This contribution will help us support individuals currently waiting for prosthetic limbs, continuing our work to provide these essential services free of charge.

We are delighted to see AIDEX 2026 featured in The Morning ahead of this Sunday’s event.

For more than three decades, AIDEX has brought together prosthetic limb users and athletes with disabilities from across Sri Lanka to celebrate ability, determination and opportunity.

This year, around 450 athletes are expected to take part in more than 60 track and field events, alongside cycling, wheelchair racing and archery.

AIDEX is more than a sports festival. It is a celebration of what is possible when people are given the opportunity to participate, compete and shine.
