CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: PROJECT COORDINATOR
The Law and Society Trust (LST) is a non-profit organization engaged in legal research, advocacy, and human rights documentation since 1982. LST was founded by the late Dr. Neelan Thiruchelvam, and our vision is a society free from violent conflict, discrimination, and social injustice, based upon human dignity for all.
LST, in partnership with Chrysalis and CARE Deutschland, is implementing the CATALYZE project (Catalyzing Policy Change and Protecting Rights in Sri Lanka through Advancing CSO Actions) over a period of three years, and LST is seeking a Project Coordinator to coordinate the project with its team.
1. Roles and Responsibilities
👉Develop activity plans, implementation schedules, monitoring frameworks, and risk mitigation measures to support effective project implementation.
👉Monitor project progress, track performance against outputs, outcomes, and indicators, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
👉Coordinate and maintain effective working relationships with project partners, CSOs, consultants, government institutions, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders.
👉Conduct and supervise participatory research, context analyses, and power mapping on governance, policy, land, livelihoods, environment, gender, and related thematic areas.
👉Support the development of evidence-based research outputs, including policy briefs, advocacy strategies, recommendations, and other knowledge products.
👉Plan, coordinate, and supervise capacity-building programmes, workshops, exchange visits, advocacy initiatives, and national-level events.
👉Oversee the implementation of public awareness campaigns, fellowship programmes, sub-grant activities, and media productions, ensuring quality standards and intended outcomes are achieved.
👉Prepare project reports, progress updates, documentation, and other technical and donor reporting requirements.
👉Undertake any other duties assigned by the Senior Project Coordinator, Project Manager, or Head of Operations.
2. Required Qualifications and Skills
👉Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Law, Political Science, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
👉Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in project coordination or management, preferably in governance, democracy, human rights, gender equality, advocacy, or community development programmes.
👉Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects; prior experience with European Union (EU)-funded projects is an added advantage.
👉Strong understanding of governance systems, public policy processes, human rights frameworks, gender equality, advocacy, and civil society engagement.
👉Proven experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives involving CSOs, government institutions, media organizations, consultants, and community-based groups.
👉Fluency in English, with proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil considered an added advantage.
