🚨While EU politicians are debating instead of taking action, children are left unprotected.

● Every half a second = 1 image of child sexual abuse is reported
● In 2024, there were 546,000 online grooming reports
● AI-generated child sexual abuse surged 400% in 2025, with 78% showing the most extreme forms of abuse.

leaders are FAILING to protect our children.

1 in 5 children’s future is destroyed by political inaction!

The technology exists. Laws exist elsewhere. Only political will is missing. Children can’t wait any longer.

Every story about a child carries power, the power to protect or the power to harm.
As part of our Ethical Reporting on Violence Against Children initiative, we brought together over 30 Tamil-speaking journalists from across the Northern Province for a 3-day residential training workshop.

Through interactive sessions and real-life case studies, journalists explored how to report on children’s issues responsibly and compassionately, while safeguarding their rights, dignity, and privacy.

Key topics included:
🟢 Types and forms of child abuse
🟢 The role of media in protecting children
🟢 National laws and ethical guidelines
🟢 How to interview children safely and sensitively
🟢 Reporting on online child sexual abuse (OCSEA)
🟢 Practical tips for ethical, child-centred storytelling

This training reminded all of us that when it comes to reporting about children, accuracy is important, but empathy is essential.
