Meeting 409 ran on the theme of authenticity, with the word of the day, forthright, setting the tone before we'd even started. TM Thevinu took the reins as Toastmaster of the Day and ran an amazing meeting from start to finish 🎙️.
Round Robin, led by TM Kisandu, asked the room to imagine life with zero judgment on the line: "If you never had to worry about being judged, what's the one thing you'd do?" The answers ranged from chopping it all off to growing it all out, a reminder of just how much of ourselves we quietly edit for the world to approve of ✂️.
TM Seniru took the floor for the Prepared Speech, walking us through club growth with a beautifully put-together slide deck 📊, then opened it up for an FAQ on how we grow our numbers and, more importantly, keep members coming back.
Table Topics, led by TM Methuli as Table Topics Master, went deep. TM Thevinu tackled fitting in vs. being yourself, landing on the idea that authenticity is the real shortcut to belonging. TM Danushkar walked us through his own character development arc, some days introverted, some days extroverted, always the same person underneath 🎭. TM Kisandu got vulnerable about a moment he felt truly understood, admitting he held onto faith that the right person would get him, plot twist, it was his ex, with his parents landing somewhere in the middle. TM Isum's favourite thing about himself? Not judging people, and being unapologetically straightforward. And TM Lahini closed it out with a case for honesty, even blunt honesty, as long as it comes wrapped in consideration for how it lands 💬.
A meeting full of self-reflection, honesty, and a whole lot of "who even am I when no one's watching" energy, forthright and true to theme.
