Colombo Scouts mourn the passing of Al Haj M.C.M. Zarook, President of the Sri Lanka Scout Association – Colombo District Branch.

A devoted leader and a true Scout at heart, he has now Gone Home, leaving behind a legacy of service, guidance, and unwavering commitment to Scouting within Colombo Scouts and beyond.

Scouts and Leaders of Colombo are respectfully requested to attend in Scout Uniform to pay their final respects to Mr. Zarook by being present at the Janaza. The Janaza will be held at the Dehiwala Jumma Mosque at 9.00 a.m. on 13th April 2026. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/S2ZA57CKyUSye1NCA)

Congratulations to Mr. M. Irshad Razak on his appointment as Assistant District Commissioner – Scout of the Sri Lanka Scout Association – Colombo District Branch.

In line with the new structure introduced at National level, a dedicated portfolio for the Scout Section has been established. Colombo Scouts is proud to entrust this important role to Mr. Irshad Razak, a proven and capable leader whose experience and commitment will further strengthen the Scout Section.

Wishing him all the very best as he takes on this new responsibility in service to Scouting.

A Mapping and Hiking Workshop for Scouts of Zone 9 was successfully conducted at Defence Services College by Assistant District Commissioner Mr. Sujith Priyamangala and DRSL Mr. M. Hadil.

The programme focused on developing essential outdoor skills, including mapping techniques, hike drawing, and practical application through a model hike, providing Scouts with a hands-on learning experience.

Sincere appreciation is extended to Senior Scout Y.D.V. Jayawardena of the 76th Colombo Scout Troop and the Scout Leaders for their support in organizing this successful event.

Building Leaders, Strengthening Scouting.

Adult Leader Training has been a crucial component of Colombo Scouts during the first quarter of the year. The Training Team of the Colombo District Branch successfully conducted a series of programmes, strengthening the foundation of leadership across all sections.

At the Sri Lanka Scout Association Colombo District Branch, the Cub & Singithi Phase I Course was held on 17th & 18th January, followed by the Scout Phase I Course on 14th & 15th February, and the Cub & Singithi Phase I Conference on 28th March.

While maintaining national standards and working within the established framework, the Training Team continues to integrate modern teaching methods and technology, ensuring that incoming volunteers experience a more engaging, practical, and impactful training journey.

Through these initiatives, Colombo Scouts continues to build capable, confident, and future-ready leaders, driving Scouting forward with purpose.

The 112th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Scout Association – Colombo District Branch was held on Friday, 27th March 2026, with the presence of Assistant Chief Commissioner – Rover Scouting, Mr. Dilum Duminda, who attended as the Chief Guest, representing the Chief Commissioner.

The meeting was successfully concluded with the adoption of the Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2025, and the Executive Committee for the year 2026/27 was appointed unanimously.

A key highlight of the evening was the shared sentiment expressed by many speakers that the continued success of Colombo Scouts lies in the harmonious relationship maintained between both Uniformed and Non-Uniformed members of the District.

Sincere appreciation is extended to everyone who took part, and especially to all those who contributed towards organizing and delivering a successful and memorable Annual General Meeting.
