Colombo is considered to be the premier Scout District in Sri Lanka with a membership of over 11,000 Singithi, Cub, Junior, Senior and Rover Scouts from over 50 active Scout Groups. Scouting in Colombo is focused towards empowering Scouts to be active citizens, leading positive change in their

Colombo Scouts were recognised at the කොළඹටත් පොසොන් - ජාතික බාලදක්ෂ පොසොන් කලාපය Award Ceremony for their creativity, dedication and participation throughout the programme.

In the Lantern Competition, the 100th Colombo Scout Group secured 4th Place, while the 50th Colombo Scout Group and 69th Colombo Scout Group were placed 9th and 10th respectively.

Participants of the Lantern Competition and Bakthi Gee programme were also presented with participation certificates in recognition of their contribution to the Poson Zone.

Congratulations to all Colombo Scouts who took part and proudly represented the District. ⚜️🏮

Across Districts. One Scouting Spirit. ⚜️

Colombo Scouts made their way to ATHNOREE 🐘 – the Kurunegala District Scout Rally at the Cavalry Supercross Ground, as Kurunegala Scouts brought back their District Rally after nearly a decade.

Assistant District Commissioner – Cubs, Miral Priyanga and Assistant District Commissioner – Media, Hansith Perera, together with a few Josephian Rovers, explored the campsite, activity areas and everything in between, taking in the energy, fellowship and spirit of Athnoree.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kosala Amunugama, District Commissioner of Kurunegala, and his team for the warm welcome and hospitality extended throughout our visit.

The journey to the 61st Colombo Camporee 2026 has officially begun. ⚜️

The official Camporee badge was unveiled on 26 August at the Colombo Lighthouse, bringing together District leaders, officials and Scouts representing every section of the Movement.

The occasion was graced by Ranjith Laksiri, President of the Sri Lanka Scout Association – Colombo District Branch; Sarath Chandrasiri Vithana, Chairman; and Sampath Wijesinghe, District Commissioner, together with District Officials and Scouts representing the Singithi, Cub, Junior, Senior and Rover sections.

Set around the theme “Skills for Life”, this year’s Camporee will bring together adventure, learning, leadership, friendship and shared experiences, as Colombo Scouts prepare for one of the District’s largest gatherings this December.

Hoo… hoo… who’s out there? 🦉🌙

Colombo Scouts, in partnership with the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka (FOGSL), conducted WINGS AFTER DARK 2026 at the University of Colombo, bringing together around 70 Scouts for a special exploration of nocturnal birds.

The programme featured sessions conducted by Prof. Nihal Dayawansa, President of FOGSL and Professor at the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, together with Dr. Praneeth Rathnayake, Secretary of FOGSL and Scout Leader of the Royal College Scout Troop.

As night fell, the learning moved outdoors with a night hike through Colombo, focused on owl exploration and discovering the city’s nocturnal wildlife. 🔦🌿

Scouts were also privileged to be part of the FOGSL Golden Jubilee Founders’ Day Programme, featuring the Founders’ Day Oration “Conservation: 50 Years of Progress” by Rohan Pethiyagoda, Linnean Medal Laureate and veteran naturalist, together with the launch of “The Best of Malkoha: A Half-Century of Ornithological Writings.”

A night of learning, discovery and adventure, because when Colombo goes quiet, nature comes alive. 🦉⚜️

Seven Cub Scout Leaders (Akelas) are currently undergoing the IV Advanced Training Course – Cub Scouting at the Lee Dasanayake Scout Training Centre, while two more Cub Scout Leaders are participating in the Special IV Advanced Training Course – Cub Scouting.

Further strengthening Colombo’s contribution to the training, Assistant District Commissioner Mr. Ravindra Ranasinghe is serving as a staff member of the programme.

Wishing all our leaders the very best as they continue their training journey and strengthen their contribution as passionate volunteers shaping the next generation of Scouts! 👏⚜️
