đź’› Planting Seeds of Hope, One Conversation at a Time đź’›

Healing Minds Matter extends its heartfelt gratitude to President Tammita and the Rotary Club of Kandy for organizing and supporting the QPR Su***de Prevention Gatekeeper Training session. Your commitment towards understanding the seriousness of mental health challenges and taking proactive steps to create awareness and support systems in society is truly commendable.

What began as a session became something far greater. A movement of empathy, awareness, and action. Through this initiative, we have now planted 40 more seeds of hope within our community and gifted society with 40 new support systems who are now equipped to recognize warning signs, respond with compassion, and guide individuals towards help and healing.

A sincere thank you to all 40 participants who took part in this meaningful journey .Teachers (Staff Advisors), Interactors, Rotaractors, Rotarians, and Social Activists for stepping forward to become voices of hope and care within the community.

Special appreciation also goes to Psychologist/ QPR Instructor Mr. Nivendra Uduman for sharing invaluable knowledge and insight, empowering participants to understand the importance of listening, supporting, and saving lives through timely intervention.

Together, we continue to build a society where every mind feels seen, heard, valued, and supported. Because sometimes, a single conversation can truly make all the difference. đź’›

Team Healing Minds Matter was deeply honored to witness our Co Chair, IPP Rasini Bandara, deliver a truly powerful and heartfelt keynote on the Psychology of Resilience.. Winning the Battle Within at the Toastmasters Ovation 2026 District Conference before an audience of nearly 800 individuals.

It was also a proud and inspiring moment to witness Past Rotary International President K.R. Ravindran and IPP Rasini Bandara sharing a platform at such a prestigious conference, bringing forward meaningful conversations on leadership, resilience, humanity, and emotional well being.

In a speech that touched countless hearts, Rasini spoke not only as a psychologist, but also through the lens of lived human experience.... sharing a deeply personal journey of grief, healing, vulnerability, and the courage to stay through life’s most difficult moments.

Her message beautifully reflected one of the core beliefs of Healing Minds Matter....that true resilience is not about suppressing emotions or pretending to be strong, but about self awareness, acceptance, honest conversations with self, and embracing vulnerability with courage.

It was truly meaningful to witness conversations around mental health, emotional well being, resilience, and humanity being brought to a platform of this magnitude.

Moments like these remind us why creating safe spaces for healing conversations matters now more than ever.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing a human being can do… is choose to stay. 🤍

The session highlighted the important role that parents and teachers play in shaping a child’s emotional wellbeing, emphasizing the need for safe, supportive, and understanding environments both at home and in school. Through meaningful discussions and practical insights, participants were encouraged to better understand children’s emotional struggles and respond with empathy, care, and guidance.

Grateful to have been part of a truly meaningful and timely initiative , the launch of MessagesHelp.org in Sri Lanka.
This movement, initiated by Professor Dr. David Horgan, offers something incredibly powerful yet simple: the right words at the right time. MessagesHelp.org provides evidence based support messages that families, friends, and communities can use as a guide when supporting individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts , helping bridge the gap between concern and action.
A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary club of Colombo Reconnections and especially Past President Rtn. Harold Sandrasagara for initiating and driving this important conversation forward. This is a conversation we must be having openly, responsibly, and compassionately.

For us at Rotary for Healing Minds Matter this initiative aligns deeply with our purpose. We are grateful that IPP Rtn. Michael Jayawardana IPP Rtn. Rasini Bandara were included in this journey and given the opportunity to support a project that reinforces a simple truth: people matter. A big thank you to our District Governor Delvin Pereira for all the support given.

IPP Rasini moderated a rich and an insightful discussion with an eminent panel, Professor Dr. David Horgan, Dr. Ashok, Dr. Chathurie Suraweera , and Dr. Rohantha Athukorala The exchange of perspectives made it a truly fruitful and inspiring day.

Here’s to initiatives that turn compassion into action and help more people feel seen, supported, and safe.
