Official highlights from the reception held in honour of His Excellency Saleh M.A.S. Al-Sarawi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka, at Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

The event was convened under the leadership of Asanar Mohamed Mihlar with the participation of humanitarian, community and civil society representatives, reaffirming the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the State of Kuwait and Sri Lanka.

The gathering reflected a shared commitment towards strengthening humanitarian partnerships, social development initiatives and constructive international collaboration for the benefit of communities in need.

RO Plant Opening – Noori, Horowpothana

On 4 May 2026, ISRC Sri Lanka officially inaugurated an RO Water Purification Plant at Nagoor Jumma Masjid, Noori, located in the Horowpothana DS Division, GN Division 147 – Rathmale.

This initiative was implemented to improve access to safe and clean drinking water for the local community, contributing to healthier living conditions and strengthened community well-being.

The project supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation

A special reception was held at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, to welcome His Excellency Saleh M.A.S. Al-Sarawi, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka.

The event was held under the leadership of Asanar Mohamed Mihlar, with the participation of representatives from several humanitarian and community organizations.

The programme was jointly organized by Islamic Relief Committee (ISRC Sri Lanka), Association of Muslim Youths of Ceylon, Al Hima Islamic Service, Muslim Aid Sri Lanka, Makola Muslim Orphanage, Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development, Mercy Lanka and All Ceylon Jamiathul Ansari Sunnathil Muhammadiya.

The event highlighted the longstanding friendship between Sri Lanka and Kuwait while promoting mutual understanding, humanitarian cooperation and future partnerships between the two nations.

During his address, Saleh M.A.S. Al-Sarawi reaffirmed the commitment of the Embassy of Kuwait to continue supporting humanitarian and development initiatives for the people of Sri Lanka through collaboration with local organizations.

A special memento was presented to the Ambassador in recognition of his visit and continued commitment to humanitarian cooperation.

RO Plant Opening – Noori, Kahatagasdigiliya

On 4 May 2026, ISRC Sri Lanka officially inaugurated an RO Water Purification Plant at Dharul Elman Muslim Ladies Arabic College, Noori, located in the Kahatagasdigiliya DS Division, GN Division 234 – Thurukkuragama.

This initiative was implemented to enhance access to safe and clean drinking water, contributing to improved health, hygiene, and well-being for students and the surrounding community.

The project contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation

On 17 March 2026 , ISRC Sri Lanka, with funding support from ISRC Sri Lanka Team , conducted an Ifthar Hot Meal Distribution at Puttalam District Secretariat , providing 400 hot meals to vulnerable households.

The intervention was implemented to address immediate food security needs and support household stability among affected populations.

This activity contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
SDG 1 – No Poverty
