Even in the most dire moments- women keep turning up- for themselves- their children and the next generation.

Women come together in small numbers to make lasting impacts to us all. In Sri Lanka we have time and time again benefited through their strength- in war- in conflict- during the economic crisis when they fed children when governments couldn't handle challenges- when climate impacts have pushed her to the brink but she has still held on to return back to cultivation and livelihood efforts.

Celebrating women's day means more than that moment. For it is about the continued relationships and sharing for over 22 years with community grassroots women that lead to moments.

As we commemorate this important day- we cannot leave behind important groups of women that we work with and work for

1. participation of will change systems and are lives. is for everyone not just the vulnerable.

2.women heads of households are one of the most affected in Sri Lanka because of war and continued crisis relating to conflicts, economy and climate. Today they become also one of the most important groups to support as they come out of the cyclone impacts into facing challenges due to global wars.

3. women with disabilities matter. Their matter. There are conflict affected women in the war torn districts of the North and East Provinces in Sri Lanka that have been physically and mentally impacted by the war, and need additional support as they cannot enjoy or continue life as it was before. Rights of the matter. Defining who they are is the first step to recognition which can lead to empowerment.

This women's day we want to share with you that in any sphere means

In an inspiring initiative by the SCOPE Project in collaboration with Viluthu, 10 inland fishing tanks in Manthai West have been officially handed over to the local women of the community to manage. This is a powerful step toward economic autonomy, and they are now entrepreneurs, managers, and skilled leaders who will continue to ensure a sustainable future for their entire community.

is a burden only felt by women. When menstrual products that are uses by almost all girls and women is classified as luxury items regardless of the fact that it is in the lives of women and girls has its own cost and impact of making menstrual products not accessible for women in many parts of our country. In pakistan a young lawyer calls out this inequality of treatment where women hold the weight of the tax costs that their peer men and boys dont even feel.
