Mirific Mums

Mirific Mums 'Mirific' means, 'Working Wonders'! As at now, Mirific Mums is not a registered charity as registration too costs a fairly significant amount of funds.

Mirific Mums Charity is a single mother's effort to source help from those who are able and willing to do so and pass on the assistance to single mums and their little ones so that their burden is a little lighter. That's exactly what do when they face life's challenges head-on and ensure that they and their little ones are taken care of. However, efforts to register is un

derway and if you would like to assist, please send us a message on Messenger to or email us at [email protected]

When we receive specific requests for assistance (which almost always comes to us through known contacts), we create social media posts to raise funds or get in touch with our well-wishers. As we are not a registered entity, funds are received to the founder's bank account and are passed on to the beneficiary. The well-wisher is provided with a copy of the transaction advice to ensure transparency. We also purchase food supplies and pass it on to the beneficiaries and the well-wisher is provided with a copy of the bill to ensure transparency. Single mothers are a growing demographic in and unless one is war affected, Tsunami affected or under the poverty line, there is not much assistance available either by the government or the private sector. Through experience as a single mother, I know that a little help can go a long way. Following are some of the areas in which we can work:
1. Financial assistance for rent, children's education, education for the mother, to pay stacked up bills, to support with medical costs, day care costs etc.
2. Food supplies
3. Sponsorship for counselling support for the mother and/or children

We do not disclose the personal information of the beneficiaries or their children unless they give us their permission to do so of their own free will. Dignity is very important and we work towards preserving dignity. We are open to your support, comments and suggestions. Please get in touch with us and help single mums and their little ones. Come and work wonders with us!

A 55 year old widowed single mother was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago.

Chandra worked as a cleaner for a small international liason office but is now unable to work because of her illness which is causing terrible pain in her spine snd legs. She lives alone in her small house in Awissawella. She has no income. Her only child is married and has two small children - and she cannot work as a result. Her son-in-law is an abusive man and does not support Chandra his mother-in-law in any way.

It costs Chandra around 5,000 rupees to come to Kalubowila for treatment and get back home. She cannot travel by bus because of the pain and weakness she feels. She needs about 20,000 a month for her living expenses - food and electricity - she uses well-water. With no income, she has no money for transport or food.

Is there anyone who can help her in any way? If you would like to deposit something into her account (she gives her ATM card to someone in the village to go to the town and withdraw for her), I can give you her bank details. If you could provide transport even for one visit to the hospital, that would be more than welcome. She travels alone as she has no other family. She can't afford a room somewhere near the hospital because she has no income - and if she cannot afford to travel, she may not be able to continue with her treatment. She is awaiting a medical report due in two weeks after which her treatment schedule will be finalised.

If you would like to help her in any way, please get in touch with me. Even the smallest intervention will go a long way. Please WhatsApp me on 0773171516.
