✝️ On June 29, the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated across the world. They are honored as the two pillars of the Church of Christ.

Saint Peter, the fisherman from Galilee whom Jesus called the rock on which He would build His Church, was crucified upside down in Rome under the Emperor Nero around 67 AD. He asked to be crucified in this way because he considered himself unworthy to die in the same manner as Christ.

Saint Paul, once the greatest persecutor of the early Christians, was converted by a vision of the risen Christ on the road to Damascus. He preached the Gospel across the Roman Empire, wrote 13 letters that became part of the New Testament, and was beheaded in Rome around the same time as Peter.
Their tombs lie beneath Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican and the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls in Rome. ✝️

Saint Augustine wrote of them: "One day is assigned for the celebration of the martyrdom of the two Apostles. But those two were one."

SOLEMNITY OF THE NATIVITY OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST 💧✝️

Early Life and Background Divine Birth: According to biblical accounts, John’s birth to the elderly priest Zechariah and his wife, Elizabeth, was foretold by the angel Gabriel. Elizabeth was a relative of Mary, the mother of Jesus.The Desert Years: Raised in the rugged Judaean wilderness, John lived as an ascetic, adopting a lifestyle similar to the Nazirites. He wore a cloak made of camel's hair and survived on a diet of locusts and wild honey.

Public Ministry The Forerunner: Around AD 27–29, John emerged from the desert to preach the imminence of God's final judgment along the lower Jordan River. He urged all echelons of Jewish society to repent and be baptized in preparation for the coming of the Messiah.

Baptism of Jesus: John's most defining historical act was baptizing Jesus, despite insisting that he was not worthy to untie Jesus' sandals. John declared, "He must increase; I must decrease," marking the shift of his ministry to that of Jesus.Imprisonment and MartyrdomConflict with Royalty: John was a fierce moral critic who publicly condemned the illegal marriage of King Herod Antipas (ruler of Galilee and central Transjordan) to Herodias, the divorced wife of his half-brother.

Tragic Death: Because of these denunciations, Herod imprisoned John. Later, during a banquet, Herodias's daughter, Salome, danced for the king, who promised her anything she desired. Prompted by her mother, Salome requested John the Baptist's head on a platter. Herod obliged, and John was beheaded in prison between AD 28 and 36.Cultural and Religious

Legacy Multi-Faith Significance: Aside from Christianity, John is recognized as a major prophet (Yahya ibn Zakariya) in Islam and is venerated in the Baháʼí and Druze faiths.Feast Days: John holds a unique liturgical position. He is one of the only saints whose birthday is celebrated (the Nativity of St. John the Baptist on June 24) in addition to the day of his martyrdom (the Beheading of St. John the Baptist on August 29). ✝️

✝️ "Behold this Heart which has so loved men." This Friday marks the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a day reminding us of the mystery of God's unconditional love. It coincides with the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests, highlighting the connection between Jesus' heart and the Eucharist. The Eucharist becomes a tangible expression of Jesus' care, with His heart truly present in the tiny host. This feast, inspired by visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673, encourages us to bring the love of the Sacred Heart into our homes and families, venerating it as per His desire.

Prayer:
Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, we renew our pledge of love and loyalty to You. Keep us always close to Your loving Heart and to the most pure Heart of Your Mother.

May we love one another more and more each day, forgiving each other's faults as You forgive us our sins. Teach us to see You in the members of our family and those we meet outside our home, and to love them as You love them, especially the poor and the oppressed, that we may be instrumental in bringing about justice and peace.

Please help us to carry our cross daily out of love for You, and to strengthen this love by frequent Mass and Communion. ✝️

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

🍞🩸 The worldwide celebration of this mystery is known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (or Corpus Christi). This feast was established universally in 1264 by Pope Urban IV, who commissioned the great theologian St. Thomas Aquinas to compose the liturgy for the occasion. ✝️

✝️🕊 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. ✝️🕊

SOLEMNITY OF THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

✝️ The Ascension of the Lord is a major Christian solemnity that commemorates Jesus Christ’s bodily ascent into Heaven, occurring 40 days after his Resurrection on the Mount of Olives. This event marked the completion of his earthly mission and his exaltation at the right hand of God the Father. During the 40 days after Easter, Jesus appeared to his disciples, teaching them and preparing them for their mission. The biblical accounts, found in Luke, Mark, and Acts, describe Jesus’ final instructions to the apostles, known as the Great Commission, to preach the Gospel to all nations and baptize believers, with the assurance,

“I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

The traditional site of the Ascension is less than a mile east of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives.

The Ascension is celebrated as an ecumenical feast across Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran traditions, traditionally on a Thursday—Ascension Thursday—40 days after Easter, though in many regions it is observed on the following Sunday. For Catholics, it is a Holy Day of Obligation, requiring attendance at Mass. Theologically, the Ascension signifies Jesus’ definitive entry into God’s heavenly domain, his reign over heaven and earth, and the preparation for Pentecost with the coming of the Holy Spirit to empower the Church. It also offers hope for humanity, symbolizing that where Christ has gone in his glorified body, believers are invited to follow in eternal life, and it inspired the tradition of the novena, the nine days of prayer between Ascension and Pentecost. ✝️

Sixth Sunday of Easter | May 10, 2026

Today, we celebrate the 6th Sunday of Easter. Also known as Rogation Sunday, this Sunday is the final phase of the Easter season, and also precedes the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.

The term Rogation Sunday is derived from the Latin rogare, meaning "to ask"; this is directly in correlation with the Church's Rogation Days, which are days devoted for special prayers. The 6th Sunday of Easter is known as Rogation Sunday as it marks the beginning of the week before the Feast of the Ascension, wherein the Minor Rogations or Minor Litany are celebrated.

The readings for this Sunday place great importance on spreading the faith and deep prayer. They similarly focus on God's commandments as well. Let us keep these values in our heart as we anticipate the Ascension of our Lord.
